Plot Bunny Theater: Happy Birthday, Twilight · 12:37am Dec 8th, 2019

Every year, on her birthday, Princess Twilight Sparkle receives a visitor in a funny blue box. The Doctor, or Doctor Whooves. Every year, at the same time. They have tea, maybe a jump to another time or place, and then they return.

Finally, a thousand years after the events of the MLP Finale, Twilight finally asks the question.

Twilight: "... How do you do it?"

Doctor: "Hm?"

Twilight: "Your Companions... Even if they don't die with you, they'll still... You'll lose them. And then you find new ones... Lose them. On and on and on. An endless cycle of joy, and grief. There will be more headstones than friends, Doctor. I know there will be."

Doctor: "..."

Twilight: "And beyond that... What happens when friendship ceases to mean anything?"

Doctor: "... Do you know... I've gone to the very end of the universe. Do you know what I found there? As the last few protons began to decay?"

Twilight: "What?"

Doctor: "I met someone. Someone trying to hold everything together, just long enough... For the last life in the universe to escape."

Twilight: "Escape? To where?"

Doctor: "To another universe. Brand new. Quadrillions of years left on the odometer."

Doctor: "This person-well, pony-well, she USED to be a pony, was... Well. She was amazing. Willing to stay behind just to ensure that what was left? Could get a chance to go on somewhere else. To keep that last light on, long enough."

Twilight: "..."

Doctor: "Now... At that point, she was beyond many things. It was hard for her to think in small terms like individuals. But if you were patient with her...? She remembered what drove her. Beyond anything else, beyond even simple survival."

Twilight: "... What?'

Doctor: "Friendship drove her. Love drove her. The love and joy from connecting with other beings... And knowing they would continue to spread that. Even beyond this universe."

Twilight: "..." Smiles, tears rolling down her cheeks "...How do I know you're not just lying to make me feel better?"

Doctor: "You don't. That's time travel for you: Everything's changing and shifting, it's always in motion. It might be true, or it might not be. I guess you'll just have to find out, won't you?"

Twilight: "I guess so."

I just like Doctor Whooves and Twilight, and them interacting as they face eternity together. More exploration about it would be interesting.

I read that in David Tennant’s voice

First time, I read it in David Tennant's voice; second time, Peter Capaldi's.

Spot on Doctor, no matter the doctor.

Except for Jodie Whitaker but eh. That will get erased by the next Time War.

Ah. To be honest I haven't been able to watch Doctor Who for a couple years. I just hoped they didn't alter the personality that much. Though I guess it's not too close to the early doctors (at least the first) either.

The voice kept switching between all of the New Who Doctors for me.

It's always Tom Baker for me.

Same here. The quality of the writing got worse and worse after David left. Probably because the writers were more focused on Sherlock (which is an amazing show until the last season).

I don't know, Matt Smith had some great ones. And I preferred Capaldi's Doctor over the others, though he could have used better stories to be in. The only reason I stopped was I can't afford the channels/services to keep watching Doctor Who.

Would you like a Jelly Baby?

Too many people arguing over who gets to sit in the "best Doctor" box, not enough people whose hearts are breaking over the subtle implication that Twilight is the one waiting at the end of time to get the lights once everyone else has left.
