    Droppin' By

Hello, I was in the neighborhood and had just realized that my last blog post was a bit of a downer, given that it was around the time of my Grandma's passing and funeral. I think I oughta leave you folks with something a bit more upbeat or at least something neutral.

    And Now, A Newsletter

Huh, back in July I said I oughta talk more around here. It's now the day after Christmas and I have not, in fact, talked more around here.

So, I'll give you the rundown on what I've been up to since then. Warning, it gets a little long in talking about last summer's vacation and about a new fixation I have.

Eh, I'm Gonna Ramble About a Show I Just Binge Watched · 4:20am Nov 17th, 2019

It was past time to kick that other blog post aside, since Halloween's over and Thanksgiving is the next holiday.

Excuse me for the lack of activity, I was having a marathon of Darkwing Duck (in production order) and throwing wacky, random thoughts of each episode on Tumblr (even the ones I'd already seen). It was a wild, fun ride, let me tell you that, and if I could, I'd convince my sisters to watch it with me just to see their reactions to each episode (I'm willing to bet they'd go "What in the actual heck?" at Twin Beaks, haha).

Wacky, random, out-of-context thoughts are as follows...

Pilot: PATERNAL INSTINCTS ACTIVATED

Water Way to Go: Steelbeak and his amazing weather machine!

In Like Blunt: “He drew on my map. :(”

Dirty Money: Crazy cleaning lady tries to ruin the economy.

A Duck By Any Other Name: I am suddenly hungry for popcorn.

That Sinking Feeling: THE NIGHT WILL LAST FOREVER!

Getting Antsy: Lilliput is the freakiest thing I’ve ever seen.

Battle of the Brainteasers: ALIEN. HATS.

Fungus Amongus: Well, dang, I’m hungry for pizza now.

Can’t Bayou Love: I completely forgot the hillbilly’s motivation. *shrug*

You Sweat Your Life: Fountain of Youth! This will end in babies.

Trading Faces: Stop laughing, Steelbeak, you’re not gonna win the evil laugh competition.

Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlatan: I have no idea what’s going on.

Apes of Wrath: For the first half I was convinced that the scientist had turned into a gorilla.

Duck Blind: Electric rat thing steals the show.

Beauty and the Beet: This guy walked straight out of a horror movie, and is somehow one of the cutest characters that I’ve ever seen… despite the murders and trying to mutate that girl he had a crush on.

Double Darkwings: So, how many times is Darkwing gonna get arrested?

Heavy Mental: That guy just exploded. The heck, Disney?

Aduckyphobia: I do appreciate Spider-Man references.

A Brush with Oblivion: I want Splatter Phoenix’s powers. They’re freakin’ cool.

Whiffle While You Work: Quackerjack is hilarious.

Easy Come, Easy Grows: Local plant man messes up the economy just to spoil his plant children.

Negaduck: Megavolt is eager to be a dad.

Dry Hard: From horrific origins comes an OP water doggo, followed by hilarious singing ladies. Let’s be grateful that he didn’t discover bloodbending.

All’s Fahrenheit in Love and War: Darkwing attracts the strangest women.

Something Fishy: Remember not to litter or the fish will flood your city.

Bearskin Thug: It’s nice that you saved the day and all, but what about the missiles?

Calm a Chameleon: Somehow, Biker Honker is more ridiculous than the shapeshifting lizard lady.

Jurassic Jumble: Not gonna lie, Dr. Fossil reminded me of this comic panel:

Then he had the comet part of his plot. Guess turning the population into dinosaurs is too hard.

Tiff of the Titans: They tried to put the EGRET on the cover of Vogue, but its legs were toooooo looooong. Good thing it ditched the legs during the climax.

Paraducks: Even if you’re from the future, you must play your part in making sure an Elvis-impersonating greaser doesn’t rule the world.

Film Flam: There always has to be a King Kong reference.

The Merchant of Menace: That’s some drama over kitchenware.

Comic Book Capers: Sometimes fan fiction gets really weird.

Slaves to Fashion: So far, this is the only episode where I don’t find Tuskernini a drag.

Bad Tidings: Well, things took a turn for the lunar.

Cleanliness is Next to Badliness: That moment when you’re a cop at an intersection and suddenly a building is sliding down the street toward you.

Night of the Living Spud: Screw physics! Bushroot will go A Whole New World away on that ivy!

Ghoul of my Dreams: Well, college debt can make one desperate.

Up, Up, and Awry: Pew-pew finger guns? I love pew-pew finger guns!

Toys Czar Us: Darkwing has a point about Quackerjack needing professional help. Granted, a good number of his villains do…

Days of Blunder: THAT GUY WAS ABOUT TO COMMIT SUICIDE.

Smarter than a Speeding Bullet: ACK! A HUMAN!

Adopt-A-Con: I kinda want to see Megavolt and Bushroot react to the nonsense Tuskernini pulled.

Just Us Justice Ducks: Darkwing, when did you first meet this Negaduck? You’d think there’d be an episode where they met for the first time (heck, if we had reactions of shock at the sudden appearance of this evil Darkwing and people wondering where he came from, this episode could have been a great first meeting).

Life, the Negaverse, and Everything: I wish we had more of the Friendly Four.

A Revolution in Home Appliances: Too much pink energy is dangerous.

Darkwing Doubloon: For some inexplicable reason, we have a Jedi in the Pirate AU.

The Secret Origins of Darkwing Duck: Thanks to DuckTales ‘17, I laughed a little too hard at the remarks in the beginning of the episode about an actor who portrayed the “fictional” Darkwing in a TV series.

When Aliens Collide: DO NOT TRUST JAWBREAKERS FROM SPACE.

Going Nowhere Fast: This just in, Negaduck has no respect for the elderly. In other news, the sky is blue.

Dead Duck: OH MY GOSH DARKWING DIED.

Quack of Ages: Overdramatic dragon much.

It’s a Wonderful Leaf: Feels awkward watching a Christmas episode when it’s almost Halloween, but I gotta watch every episode in production order in this marathon, you know.

I think Bushroot gets extra cranky when he doesn’t get enough sunlight. I don’t think he’s a winter plant, and getting chased by a mob does not help.

Planet of the Capes: Ah, the dilemma of when everyone on the planet is a superhero.

The Incredible Bulk: “MY THREE SONS! D:>”

Disguise the Limit: Gotta love Negaduck’s magic boxers.

Let’s Get Respectable: #KickNegaduckDownTheStairs

Twitching Channels: Megavolt will leap out of your screen at any moment. May or may not have Darkwing following him.

Stressed to Kill: In which everyone is so relaxed that no one cares that Quackerjack started a fire and Megavolt started a flood to put out the fire.

Twin Beaks: Bushroot died a couple times, but he came back. HE ALWAYS COMES BACK.

My Valentine Ghoul: You can trust Negaduck to always be a rotten scoundrel.

Dances With Bigfoot: Well… there are volcanoes in the Pacific Northwest… I visited one of them during my family’s vacation last summer…

Time and Punishment: And this is why Gosalyn is an important part of Darkwing’s life.

The Darkwing Squad: Grizzlikoff had me fooled there for a good several minutes.

Inside Binkie’s Brain: Honestly, the way “Canardian Guardian” was going about, I was expecting something like this:

The Haunting of Mr. Banana Brain: I never trusted jack-in-the-boxes anyway.

Slime Okay, You’re Okay: Here, we witness the most blessed of Bushroots:

And the most cursed of Bushroots:

Kung Fooled: The attack of Toddler-Zilla.

U.F. Foe: Launchpad’s flashback was so cute.

Whirled History: Megavolt really should have stayed home and gone back to bed.

Quiverwing Quack: When starting a superhero career, do NOT go after the destructive, bloodthirsty wacko that’s actively trying to be Public Enemy #1.

Bad Luck Duck: Things went a bridge too far near the end.

Jail Bird: But, Negaduck, you already have a superpower! Your mere presence reduces the other four’s collective intelligence down to one brain cell that they play hot potato with.

A Star is Scorned: Bushroot proves himself a surprisingly strong contender for the evil laugh contest, while also having his cuddliness index off the charts.

Dirtysomething: Funny thing, Gosalyn actually cleaning her room would have taken less time and effort than pretending that she did–painting a realistic room on a canvas that big ain’t an overnight job.

The Revenge of the Return of the Brainteasers, Too!: The alien hats are back. Yippee.

Inherit the Wimp: Wouldn’t it be cool to meet some of my ancestors? I know I’ve got a few cool people in my family tree.

Monsters R Us: Morgana’s family is a… strange bunch…

Star-Crossed Circuits: Evil beware, we have waffles.

Steerminator: FOWL made a really stupid move in bringing Taurus Bulba back.

Paint Misbehavin’: That toaster-headed pink gorilla made me think of an inside joke in my family involving a purple gorilla. If Toaster-Head had been purple I’d have gotten a screenshot just to torment my sister.

The Frequency Fiends: Hey, congrats to Megavolt for not pulling his “backstab Darkwing after the episode’s problem is solved” stunt this time!

Hot Spells: Hey, I watched a banned episode!

The lesson here is don’t take shortcuts, or you doom your dad to watching a TV show he doesn’t care for with his annoying neighbors in the eternal flaming pit.

Mutantcy on the Bouncy: People here getting some weird origin stories and yet some pretty darn useless powers.

Clash Reunion: We almost had some crispy bacon, buuuut charred bodies are less kid-friendly than, say, topiary trees that were once people.

Fraudcast News: I’m more amused than anything about a supervillain convention being a thing. I kind of want to see that…

Extinct Possibility: I can’t believe they squashed humanity.

Malice’s Restaurant: Well, it looks like Negaduck kept those dogs.

After MLP had more than 200 episodes, DWD's 91 episodes were a bit easier to handle. Being a 90's cartoon, there were moments where I paused and was like, "Okay, that didn't age well", and some moments where I was like, "I can't believe they got away with that", but it's still a fun watch.

Oh, I loved that series. Thank you for discussing it in detail and thus hopefully restoring interest in it.

Have you ever seen the new version of She-Ra? I watched the first four episodes and think it's excellent.

Given recent news about how people just flocked to the show and binge-watched when Disney+ launched, I think people were already interested. :rainbowlaugh:

No, I don't have Disney+ (it wasn't even available when I started the marathon), I found the entire series on YouTube and watched there. I'm amused that someone got away with it just by speeding episodes up a bit.

Eh, I'm not that interested in seeing She-Ra. :unsuresweetie:
