I'd been a kid when I wore my hair spiky, standing in the middle of the bathroom before the mirror, my mother behind me, jabbing fingers against my scalp with cheap Axe gel. I'd always worn it short; I never liked it short.

Flash forward several years into the future, where I rarely take care of my appearance, and my hair has taken a life of its own. I don't brush it and I don't comb it. No style nor gel. Whatever happens to it happens, and that is that.

For the last little while, my hair has kept over my face, covering my left eye, reaching down to the tip of my eye. Sometimes my fingers run down to put it in such a place, but really, it lays flat down on its own. And keeps that way.

Lately, however, my hair has been sticking up. Up and forming into whatever it pleases. You can call it bedhead if you like. But somehow, the hair is always slightly different every morning—and keeps that way.

This week, however, it's been slicked back.

I was outside without wind when I noticed it. My hair had fallen all the way back, weighing down, without being combed. My sideburns kept also swept back as well. For the longest time, my face had been covered by hair—hiding your acne is an art—but now it's completely exposed.

I'd gone to sleep, woke up again, only for the hair to still keep back. It's not any longer than it'd been a few weeks ago. But now it's back. All the way back. It feels strange and different and oddly refreshing.

There isn't any significance to any of this. Just a general thought and feeling. Ho boah.
