Fitting. The show officially ended yesterday, I've got some neat MLP fan music playing on loop, and I get to review a fic from my peak days in the fandom.
Just like so many other stories from around that time, "I Think I Summoned a Ponk" was written when I was the most entrenched in the fandom; watching every episode that released, actively watching fan videos, reading fics and comics, and so on. That... kinda changed with the advent of Equestria Forever not too long after. :P
Still haven't really ever regained the old enthusiasm, and frankly, with how I've enjoyed writing original fiction again lately, I probably never will again. But hey, that's how life goes.
I'm not necessarily gonna be tearing into this story all that much, similar to what I did with some of the previous stories I enjoyed writing, but instead I'll be providing commentary on what was written, and putting some things into context.
Anyways, let's get into this story. 
Standing at about half my height, was some sort of pony. And it was definitely not the sort you'd find on a farm or at some carnival. Especially considering it's coloration, and the fact that it's mane is so--
"Hi there, I'm Pinkie Pie!"
I screamed again as my hand smacked the seemingly female pony to the side.
"Get away from me, you... you-- thing!"
Right off the get-go, it's pretty obvious what kinda story this is gonna be. It's the good ol Anon x Pinkie comedy fic, and for a time, I believe it might've actually had a more active update schedule than What If, which I remember stayed pretty quiet and forgotten for quite some time.
I was already tired of this, tired of the world.
With the exception of Equestria Forever, most of my "middle-school edgy" phase was more or less dying out by the time this story rolled around.
I had accidentally proved the Multiverse Theory.
This would later make a comeback with Lab Horse.
I paused as I let that sink in. What wishful thinking? All my hopes and dreams... they've either already been fulfilled, or fruitlessly tossed aside, never to be remembered again...
At the time of writing that, I was still pretty unsure of what I wanted to do in life. I was only just beginning high school, and throughout middle school I really didn't add very much else to the things I was interested in.
"WHAT THE F***?!"
That's not a line you'd see in many of my stories today, even with the censoring. I just feel more comfortable writing everything rated E. It fits me better.
I'll be randomly picking chapters past the first one, since there are so many.
"You're not you when you're hungry, kid. Have a Snickers.
Forgot a quotation mark there, past-me. Also, meme references.
Oh please, just kill me already. I can't take it anymore.
Pinkie, or Pinkamena, that is, suddenly slinked up besides me, holding a large knife.
"I'll gladly fulfill that request..."
Please no.
Oi, hol up, I don't remember this!
"...Pinkie, er... human Pinkie? Where'd the other Pinkie go?"
Anon's eyes met Pinkie's, and Pinkie's met Anon's. The two leaned in close for a ki--
I did say Anon x Pinkie, didn't I?
I groaned as I woke up, rubbing my sore temples with my hand as I felt the warm rays of the dying orange giant we call the Sun.
...wait a second, that can't be right...
And here's the exact moment I made the mistake of ending the story in favor of yeeting it all into Equestria Forever. I would try to revive the story twice beyond this, first by making an effort to add new chapters to the original story, and later by publishing a sequel, but in both cases, the damage was already done. I stopped writing comedy for a while after that.
Considering the fact that I'm entirely out of ideas for the original plotline, I've merged the sequel with a sidestory of Equestria Forever, in order to be able to start off fresh with a (nearly) blank slate, starting off with Anon dropping on his face in the middle of nowhere.
NO! YOU GOSH-DARN IDIOT! DON'T DO THAT!
Aaaaand it ends up turning out that the upcoming direct sequel is based entirely off of the original fic's plotline, making this chapter more of the actual ending than an "alternate" ending. Enjoy anyways!
Guess what story got the axe because it was DOA?
"YAY!" Pinkie suddenly cheered, "WE SAVED THE WORLD!"
And that's how the story's fate was sealed. Not with a bang, but with an awkwardly-written attempt at continuing an old story that died long ago.
I keep seeing you mention it, but what exactly is Equestria Forever?

In a world where nothing is left but war and fear, a precious handful of people, together with the few remaining ponies, strives to bring back the world they once knew...This pile of smoldering heck.
It was supposed to be a 9/11 commemoration fic, but somehow it ended up being this monster of a story that cannibalized just about everything that I had out around the time for the sake of making some kind of interesting lore out of the mash of stories it ate up.
I'm still salty about the fact that I killed off I Think I Summoned a Ponk for that story. I really liked writing it, but eh. The past is the past.
