Hello, everypony! I hope you all enjoyed this breather chapter. It sure has been a wild ride for Twilight since the beginning, hasn't it? Going this way and that way, all over Equestria and back again. In my opinion, it's tricky to make research "interesting," and portions of this chapter mimic earlier chapters like chapter 3. Twilight is "in her element" when muzzle deep in a book, but having her spend 6 hours researching can get boring pretty quickly! Not just for the reader, but even as a writer it's hard to keep things interesting! I always intended for there to be a small number of in-between chapters for the earth pony and pegasus arcs to kind of ease up on the tension, while also dropping hints and sprinkles of info about things to come. Then again, that scene in the storm cloud was fairly emotional. Even at home Twilight appears to be always busy!
From an editing perspective... Not a lot changed in this one. A top-to-bottom rewrite sure, but the basic structure of "regroup with Starlight and Spike in the castle" -> "Study in the bedroom" -> "Storm cloud research" was always there. The ending of the chapter was the only thing that really changed from the draft. The focus in the draft was kind of moreso on Ponyville itself and reflecting on that. I thought it would be stronger to focus more on Twilight herself, and why she's seemingly unable to see pegasus magic yet.
The revisions for 21 are underway! Maybe the key to pegasus magic lies there... Or perhaps it's yet again two more questions for each answer.
