Hi all, I have a new story out that I wanted to make you aware of. It's called Local and it's been pretty much all I've been writing for a while.
So, if you've read any of blogs recently you'll have heard me prattle on about this fic 'Local'. It has evolved from what was going to be a short piece to much longer, I estimate at least 30k words when complete. The story is very close to being done now, at about ca 23k, and I'm planning to release one chapter a week, every Friday, until the whole thing is out.
I am very proud of this one, but have struggled with it as well. With a piece that is attempting to convey a specific theme so much, there is inevitable difficulty in gelling that with telling an interesting story. Furthermore, it's always a much bigger worry to release something when you are genuinely very personally invested in it. When it's finished I'll do a blog post discussing it all in much more detail, but for anyone interested the best way I can describe it is a 'Suburban Horror'.
Importantly though, the amazing cover art was done by Lilfunkman, who has been nothing but incredible throughout the whole commissioning process. If anyone is interested in a fic cover, or any other kind of art commission, I cannot say enough good things about working with them.
