For the last couple of years, I’ve really wanted to enter one of Oroboro’s Sunset Shipping Contests, but stayed out of them because I tend to be risk-averse. So many great authors have written for these contests, and I’ve never been quite sure if I could match up. Heck, even now, I’m not sure.
But this time, I’ll be doing it anyway. No matter if I win, lose, whatever. This is my last shot, and I don’t care what happens—as long as I take it. The concept I use, however, will be up to the fans.
I noticed from the last Sunset Shipping Contest that a lot of the entries I liked were ultra-rarepairs, the sort you could only find in this competition. I’d like to do something like that, and I’m stuck between Silverstream and Rara right now. Here are the concepts for the two ideas in my head right now:
Sunset/Silverstream (working title—The Mermaid and the Unicorn)—Silverstream is a foreign exchange student at Canterlot High that Sunset quickly bonds with. Even though many people just see Silverstream as a hot, exotic girl from a distant island country, Sunset sees a kindred spirit, someone who doesn’t understand everything about the new place she’s in. The two bond over their shared experiences as “aliens”—Silverstream in the foreigner sense of the word and Sunset in the sci-fi sense—until it comes time for Silverstream to return to her country. Except, just like in canon, dark forces have taken over her land, and she and her parents might just end up in Canterlot for good as refugees. Will Silverstream risk her safety to stay in Canterlot with her girlfriend, or will she move to a country where the new despots in charge are less likely to find her?
Sunset/Rara (working title—Where My Demons Hide)—Months ago, Sunset would’ve never thought a pop star would transfer to her school. She would’ve never thought that same pop star would’ve fallen for her. But the life of an idol’s girlfriend is far from easy, and over time, Rara starts to become increasingly skittish about the two of them being found out. When Sunset investigates, she expects Rara doesn’t want to pull her into the celebrity life, or that she just doesn’t want the tabloids to hound them. What she finds is far more tragic, something that ties everything from Rara’s hiatus to her transfer to Canterlot High together. As it turns out, both she and Rara have their own personal demons to run from...

Hmm, my vote is for Sunset/Rara. That one sounds more enticing.

I don't really know either of those characters well but I will read whichever you put out.
