I just don't understand some people.....

I was only out to buy some simple things today. I had some change left and I went to a nearby park to give it to a homeless person. I couldn't find one and went back to the train station and mall where I started. A man was standing there in front of the entrance, with heavy luggage, a huge backpack and a big suitcase. He asked me for change and said he has no place to sleep. I was unsure about

Selfishness has been my wrong motivator for the longest time..... and people don't see who I really am because of that.

A lot of people in the fandom don't understand who I am and think of me as a bad person. My friend sometimes does, too, and doesn't trust me anymore because of that. There have been moments when she literally asked me "Who are you?". I was always thinking this was stemming from trust issues that she developed because of events in her past and I was only marginally attributing the cause for this

The End of Equestria Girls · 3:19am Jul 28th, 2019

I should have gone to sleep hours ago, but here is something that keeps me awake regardless of my tiredness. EQG has ended! To me, this feels like a very heavy rock has suddenly fallen off my heart.
I am pretty famous for criticizing EQG and that's what everyone always sees from me when the topic of EQG comes on the table, how I rant and complain about EQG and meet it with nothing than hatred and disgust, before I move on and seemingly forget about it until it rears its head the next time. But what no one knows is how serious all of this really is for me.
Seeing how EQG ends now, it makes me choked up. For more than six years, EQG has been sitting on the back of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, leeching off of it, twisting its artistic integrity as a show that is supposed to focus on ponies by turning ponies into humans and ridiculing it with this and with cheap, stereotypical highschool storylines..... and now it's over. It is over and it can't be a burden for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic anymore. And gone are also the rumors that EQG will outlive My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
I am sitting here and I'm nearly in tears. EQG is gone and it ended before Season 9.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic can end in peace now. :fluttercry:

This made me empty in the inside.

I gotta say, I agree with this statement here.

"For more than six years, EQG has been sitting on the back of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, leeching off of it, twisting its artistic integrity as a show that is supposed to focus on ponies by turning ponies into humans and ridiculing it with this and with cheap, stereotypical highschool storylines..... and now it's over."

Honestly, I always thought of EQG as a leech as well, I just never put it into words, nor even truly thought of it in that way before, but it was there, floating inside my empty little head, just waiting to be cohesively developed.

Thank you for putting the words I so desperately needed to hear, inside said little, empty head.

To be honest tho... I never even watched a single one of them. (Other than camp everfree. Don't ask why.) I'll admit, I'm kind of single-minded on this matter, I don't like them. But, at the same time, I'll admit, some moments are... enjoyabul. Hell, even downright meme worthey.

But hey, to each his own.

Cheers!

It makes sense for it to end before the actual show. But to be honest, I only watched the very first movie, wasn't interested in the rest. Still, I never understood the hate for pony Flash Sentry. And I was neutral of that when it was first announced.

I for one am very upset that Sunset's Backstage Pass is the last one! You made it sound like the EqG is a bad thing! There are other people who actually enjoyed the series you know... myself included.

Personally... I think EqG series was better then the main show because the show had gone stale in the last couple of seasons (except the last season so far) while EqG was a lot more interesting and have some potential with also every entry. Sadly... they ended it before the EqG got a proper ending like the main show.

But that's my opinion!

It doesn't need to be, really. I never understood why some people in the fandom felt such an attraction towards copies of the characters we love that happen to be in a human skin. Personality-wise, there's no difference. There's just the species. Yet some people worship the EQG characters religiously, even though they are like clones of the Mane Six that were genetically changed to have the bodies of humans instead of pony bodies. I never understood that attraction and I think if I would understand it, the answer would give me the creeps even more than EQG already does.
If you keep watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, now and after it will be over, you can still see Twilight, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity and Rainbow Dash. They won't go anywhere and they will always be where you left them.
I'm being blunt here, I think that you (and, of course, other EQG fans) have put too much value on EQG. It was a side-franchise, a simple addition to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic because Hasbro wanted to cash in on the toy doll market. And nothing more. EQG was always small and never supposed to be a big thing. Which shows when you look at it how easy and carefree Hasbro dropped it the moment it became clear that it wouldn't be profitable anymore. You might have developed a different view there, but in reality, EQG was never supposed to be a show with well-written characters, with lore, with appeal. Just a quick cashgrab. The literal textbook definition of a toy commercial show, the very thing the My Little Pony franchise has managed to transcend with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. And that's also how Hasbro always treated EQG and how it still treats EQG now. Not a show to attract the masses with an engaging and exciting plot and with interesting characters, but an excuse to sell toys.
I said I'm going to be blunt and you will call me harsh for that, maybe even unfollow me, but I think you put your money on the wrong horse (no pun intended) with EQG.
But My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is what really matters. It always mattered more than EQG. And you still have My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and it will get the grand end it deserves after a long life of nine fantastic and brilliant seasons. It will even still continue in other forms, the official comics have no announced end date and a manga series has just started releasing with a first issue. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic will still go on for some time, maybe even into Generation 5 if we're lucky.
That is what matters. And you will get used to not seeing EQG easier than you think and, maybe, you will even see why My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic matters more again then. You don't need EQG to be happy.

5095301

I am glad that I could help with this then. I despise EQG deeply, for attempting to twist My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic into something it just isn't supposed to be. That grand show that is exciting, thrilling, deep on such a high level, that doesn't have to hide from "adult entertainment" that shows like "The Walking Dead" are, the show that has proven that little ponies aren't something kitschy, cheesy, girly or childish, but something everyone regardless of age or gender can enjoy if a show with such characters is done the right way, it got a spin-off show that brought back all the cringy traits of the early generations; the bland characters, the cheesy storylines, the pseudo-adventure to make it look cool in hopes to drive sales. It was like EQG pointed at My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and laughed while painfully reminding it on the dark past of the franchise.
It truly leeched off of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It's not a phrase to express hatred for EQG. It really did leech off of it. It did so with the aforementioned thing and by attracting a tiny, but all the more vocal, fanbase that came from the humanized pony art fraction of the fandom and that didn't care for the artistic integrity of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, only for its own selfish desire of seeing ponies getting turned into big-eyed anime girls.
People with such profound problems to grasp what makes My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic such a special show that they deluded themselves into believing that EQG is better than My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic over the years. While that is so objectively wrong on every level and actually easy to see too, if one just bothers to really compare EQG and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic with each other.
I think not only you needed to hear these words from me, I think I needed to hear them myself, too. Ever since I decided to stop posting comments on Equestria Daily more than two years ago, I have never talked much about EQG again. Only in very rare and short Derpibooru comments. Now that EQG is over, a lot of pent-up feelings are breaking free at once. I never noticed how much I needed to let that all out.

To be honest tho... I never even watched a single one of them. (Other than camp everfree. Don't ask why.)

I won't. I also watched the first EQG movie, out of sincere interest and curiosity. Found it even enjoyable, at first. That mind changed when I watched my first episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic afterwards. Hearing the same voices spoken by the ponies I love, getting reminded on humans every time I saw them, how this suddenly made me feel alienated from the ponies I loved, it almost ruined "Magic Duel" for me when I saw it for the first time.
I immediately went and deleted all I had of EQG; the downloaded cam rip from YouTube with the just so tolerable recording quality, the songs, the short videos I had with scenes of it, and I never looked back from this moment on.

But, at the same time, I'll admit, some moments are... enjoyabul. Hell, even downright meme worthey.

And that's probably all that attracts some people to EQG. The memes. And the sex appeal. There has been a fair amount of bronies who didn't approve of clop before EQG came to be. With humans in EQG, there suddenly was something to get turned on by without having to step out of the personal comfort zone. No EQG fan would admit that, but for many of them, this probably was the #1 reason why they started following EQG.

I'll admit, I'm kind of single-minded on this matter, I don't like them.

And you're not the only one. EQG always had a minor following only. Not liking EQG isn't something to feel ashamed for. I can personally attest that EQG fans have the tendency of shaming you for not liking it, to the point that they immediately attack you the moment you suggest that EQG isn't good, but it's no reason to be ashamed at all.
EQG is objectively bad and it's perfectly fine to say that, because, it's the truth.
And now that EQG is over, I hope that some of the damage it caused for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic can be undone, with time. There's a burden off the shoulders of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic now.

5095338

Me too. But I've realized soon how it's better to avoid EQG and did so ever since.

5095610
Makes sense. Thought I found it interesting how it differences from Equestria, like all being students, canterlot being a school. Given Celestia's position, I wondered how the Royal GUud could suit into Equestria Girls.

5095388

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic hasn't gotten stale. I wasn't going to answer on your comment, because you sound so hurt over the end of EQG that I'm not sure how my words would get through. But this is something I have to answer to.
It hasn't gotten stale. In each season, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic introduced new and interesting characters, new locations, the worldbuilding grew steadily bigger with each season from Season 4 onwards, its themes became more daring, the plot became deeper, the characters progressed, learned new things and made new experiences, they changed by those experiences, grew from them and began to see new aspects of life or found new professions or meanings in life, even the so-called "recycled episode plots" didn't actually recycle anything, but took a conflict that is similar and directed it into a completely different direction that made something entirely new out of the episode, showing different nuances of conflicts and situations in an impressive way that I haven't seen being pulled off in any other long-running show before, which is one of the big strengths My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has, one of the things that make it so deep, not a weakness as so many in the fandom construct it into.
The only thing in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic that did actually and truly become stale over the years are the roles of the Mane Six. They did become stale as characters when Season 7 came around, but the writers immediately mended this by focusing on so many other ponies, even background ponies, in Season 7, when it became clear that the Mane Six alone can't carry the show as its primary mane characters anymore. Season 7 is the most diverse season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, character-wise.
Then they focused stronger on the friendship between Starlight and Trixie, they introduced the Student Six into the show as potential heirs of the show's manecast and kept putting other ponies/creatures into the spotlight if it was needed. They did the right thing by giving the Mane Six less screentime and letting other ponies/creatures shine in their stead.
The writers have done everything possible and imagineable to keep My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic relevant, to keep it interesting, to keep it diverse, at any time, from way back in Season 1, all the way to Season 7 and Season 8.
If this tremendous effort is what you call "going stale", then I am not able to make any guesses what they would have to do to satisfy you and to make you commend My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic for staying fresh even in later seasons and at a progressed age.

5095616

It's not an uninteresting approach, a spin-off that shows ponies in a different environment or different world with a different culture. But that's just it. Ponies.
EQG is bad for many reasons, I mentioned its cliched, stupid, stereotypical, boring and bland highschool setting here, but what broke it right from the beginning, already before the first movie released, is that ponies were humanized in it.
That's what broke it right from the start; that the species of the characters was changed from the ponies they are because of the franchise's name and basic idea that the characters are dominantly ponies, to humans. It's what unmasked it as the senseless cashgrab it was, like it's always the case if a franchise vastly transforms away from its trademark style.

5095656
Okay... perhaps "stale" isn't the right word for it. I ment the "writing" for the previous seasons had declined somewhat over the years.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the main show. Yes, seasons 4 to 5 was good seasons and they're some of my favorites. Season 6, I didn't think it was... great in my opinion for most episodes except for the season premiere and season finale. Season 7 was better... but okay overall.

Season 8... was the worst in my opinion. They build up that season about opening a friendship school for every creature in Equestria... but they only used less than a quarter of the season with a school concept. The rest of the episodes were either average or just bad (Non-Compete Cause). There are some good ones like Sounds of Silence, Road to Friendship, The Hearth's Warming Club, What Lies Beneath and maybe School Raze, but that's it. Season 9 is when things started to picked up again and I hope the series finale will end strong.

So... yeah, I'm still watching the main series and continue to do so until the finale, it's just that I'm both sad and disappointing that the other series I liked had abruptly ended and I wished it had the proper ending like the main show did. Hearing you say that the EqG is a "burden" to the main show... rubbed me the wrong way.

If you don't like EqG and preferred the main show, fine. That's your opinion and I'll respect that. But please be mindful on how you say your opinion, especially to those who liked the EqG.

Anyway, I don't want us to fight and I hope I didn't offend you. Let's just say, we can agree to disagree and move on.

Anyway, I don't want us to fight and I hope I didn't offend you. Let's just say, we can agree to disagree and move on.

It's a little late for that.

Was not expecting that response, non the less, thank you.

5096296

I'm not sure what you mean with "that response". What did you expect?

5096321
Oh, well I mean, I didn't expect that long of a reply. That's all.

(I didn't expect anything, so imagine my surprise when I saw your reply.)

Regardless, I thank you for your comment altogether.

Cheers!

5096394

Oh, I see. EQG is a hot topic and your response to my comment was vague, so I wanted to make sure I know what it was meant to say.
My responses can get very long in general, if I'm passionate about a subject in one way or another. You're welcome.
