    Droppin' By

Hello, I was in the neighborhood and had just realized that my last blog post was a bit of a downer, given that it was around the time of my Grandma's passing and funeral. I think I oughta leave you folks with something a bit more upbeat or at least something neutral.

    And Now, A Newsletter

Huh, back in July I said I oughta talk more around here. It's now the day after Christmas and I have not, in fact, talked more around here.

So, I'll give you the rundown on what I've been up to since then. Warning, it gets a little long in talking about last summer's vacation and about a new fixation I have.

The Return... Also, Some Thoughts on "Between Dark and Dawn" · 10:15pm Jul 14th, 2019

Hallelujah, I am not on the Kindle!

So, turns out my laptop's motherboard was toast. Yanno, dead enough that I had to have a funeral for the entire thing and get a new one. So far, I am pleased with my new laptop; I especially enjoy the touch screen it came with. Yes, I still have software to install for various tasks, be it for myself or other people, but it feels nice to not panic at the sound of a screaming fan (I know exactly how that sounds, and you know I'm actually talking about a laptop fan).

Anyway, now to stop distracting myself with Darkwing Duck (that new DuckTales episode got me checking out that show, and wow is it wild!), and get back to talking about pony and an episode that I'm overdue with my thoughts on.

Yes, I'm aware about China airing episodes early. Just can't go a season without early stuff, huh? I'm gonna save those thoughts for the US airings.

That first bit with Celestia and Luna popping in to solve random problems (one of which is dealing with Torterra from Pokemon, apparently) feels way too much like the staff was overcompensating for fan complaints about the princesses not doing anything, and I honestly found it annoying. But, it did get more enjoyable when they went off on vacation and had their fun and their arguments and stuff. I do find it relatable when I want to do a thing, but my sisters want to do other things, and it's frustrating, but we just love spending time together more than doing certain things (well, for me, going out to do a fun thing I like isn't as much fun to do alone as opposed to with my family). Still, after a bit, the episode kind of wore down on me and got dull.

I dunno, maybe I'm just more used to the insane mishaps that I wrote for Cheese and Tomato's road trip in Brotherly Bonding Time (which I haven't updated for a few months much to my shame, and no, I don't want to hear "take your time" from any of you, it doesn't help!).

As for the Mane Six's half of the plot... of all things that they have to deal with, it's a party about freakin' swans? Well, I suppose that the ponies are being exploited by the Swan Mafia (the Swafia? At least they look better than the dino-geese in Twilight's Seven). Still, you'd think that the staff would come up with something better for the Royal Duties that Twilight and co. have to deal with while the sisters were away (I had to come up with things for Cheese to do when he swapped bodies with Celestia in that one arc of BBT, and as frustrating as that was, at least I didn't cop out with something that dumb).

Also, Ponygliacci? Well, with Ponyacci as a character in the comics and one that I fully accept in my fic 'verse, this feels a little awkward...

And I gotta mention Capper's background cameo. You go, you cool cat, sneaking yourself in the background without a care in the world. 😎

All in all, it was all right, but not amazing.

I really liked the episode, with such an amazing song and some character development, it was pretty good.

By the way, I’ve already gotten a huge spoiler for a future episode in the season (and it is huge). Why must China release early?

Parts of this episode did kind of wear on me, but my favorite part was the idea that a Swan Mafia has become so powerful even the Princesses must placate them with their own parade.
