I prefer making fics where characters get punished for the way they behaved, no matter what. Even if it's the guy from a broken up couple... he gets punished especially.
But there are other reasons why I make it that way.
I made Beast Boy go on a VOYAGE TO THE EDGE OF THE EARTH:
Main Reason, so I can use the theme from "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea"
That music alone is inspiring enough for me to make up so many ideas, but the number one inspiration of all is "BB is on a vital journey. He's in search of a new life. He doesn't know where it is, or what it is, until he finds it, and until the Titans get into their heads and STOP CHASING him, he just keeps on running wondering where he'll go next, what he'll find, and what he'll do."
The people wanted Development and Growth, and they wanted BB to move on, so I gave it to them. But as usual, it wasn't good enough. They want BB to just forget about Terra, smile and learn to find happiness again by staying with the Titans...

To me, that's cool, and more inspiring...
-He's still a superhero-- he ha adventures, helps people, beats bad guys.
-He must rely on his other resources (Skill, cunning, wits, equipment) He dare not turn into animals...
He ran away from JC, and the Titans, and Terra want him to come home, realizing the error of their own ways, and they want to make it up him... but he's not interested. They had their chance, and he's done with them. He wants a new life... WITHOUT them.
Just like Terra did on Things Change, he wants nothing to do with them, does not want to see them anymore, and wishes to find his own path to follow. (Karma bites, doesn't it.)
Those Sunglasses BB wears are a special kind-- the prevent him from being detected by any equipment, and Raven can't make psychic contact with him. (As long as he's wearing them, they'll never find him)
So, he can't turn into animals because the shades will come on, and the Titans will be able to find him and be there in a short time. He'll only use his animals if it's totally necessary.
Most of the time, he just uses his other sources.
-His Moped (Which can also be flown by remote control to catch him if he falls from a dizzily height)
-Gun
-Knife
-Multi-tool
-Flashlight
-Rope
-Radio (Not his Titans' communicator)
-All Titans were trained in martial arts (So he's a good fighter)
-He also relies on his brain: As he is the son of two Scientologists, its in his blood that he could become really smart. And my theory is, maybe he IS smarter than he looks, he just hides it thinking it's not cool, preferring to be a hotshot dude. Now he has to rely on his knowledge and intelligence more than ever.
In the end of the day, BB is usually forced to flee wherever he is; scared that publicity of his heroism with be caught by the media, which will alert the Titans of his position and they can find him.
That's the basics...
BB is trying to move on, and he's actually growing in a way I prefer, (He's growing at all, just like people bitched about) but still he gets mocked simply because of the hostility and negativity involved.
...Get it straight, I am not going to make him move on and live a life without Terra.
The shipping is BB and TERRA... not BB and RAVEN... not BB and Someone else. It's Terra or bust!
Do you not know the difference between scientists and scientologists? Scientology is not science, it's a cult, and a dangerous one at that. Nothing about scientology has anything to do with science (unless you take into account that it's founding is based on science fiction). And being the son of two scientists won't ensure that the son is intelligent. Intelligence is not hereditary. At best, it would result in him having a higher IQ. But an IQ isn't the same as intelligence. But for the sake of fiction, I won't complain about that idea.
