A Wedding Gift for one of us · 6:33pm Jul 6th, 2019
Hello, all 4,835 of you! (And others that might stumble on this). You might or might not know, but our very own Midnight Dancer is getting married. You might know her for her stories, or even as the infamous "Soap Lady" at Bronycon. Well, I happened to take a look at her registry today, and I think we can help with that Honeymoon Fund, don't you?
The way I figure it, a dollar or two from each of us will help make her already special week even better! Now, before you ask, no, she doesn't really know I'm doing this. But she's a friend that has advised me, supported me and encouraged me through all my time as part of this fandom. She's opened her door to me, and she's been generous, honest and downright legendary to everyone who's met her online or in person.
She is a gem of a human being, and we can help. So, I'm not asking you to send her $10, $20, $100... if you can, that's amazing and that is your own generosity, but if not, all I'm asking you to drop is a dollar. There's 4,835 of you following my unworthy self. If %60 of us... sixty percent drop a dollar in there, it will be done and we will make someone's day.
This is not for me. This is not a fund to go to a con, or get equipment, or do something personal that benefits me. This is for one of us, who hasn't asked for anything, and who we can help make their amazing week and upcoming happiness even greater.
Wow, congrats for her!
(snerk) So tempted to fully fund the Horseback Riding and Wine Tasting Day Trip (and write it later)
Should we make it a surprise? You know the second one of us donates she's going to figure out what you did.
5085148 I think that it doesn't matter if it's a surprise. She deserves this, surprise or not.

But if all and sundry remember to select the "surprise" option, you'll get a very funny PM on the day of the wedding. Unless of course she reads this blog...
5085155 Lol, that is true, but, again this is not for my benefit, so as long as she's happy, I'm happy.
Jesus, a $200 skillet? I hope they have an amazing wedding and many decades of marital bliss, but $200 for something you could find at Goodwill for $15 seems excessive.

It's a honeymoon you cheap bastard. Not everybody who gets married is white trash.
Oh wow. :O For once, I can actually do this.

True, Le Crueset is like one of the gold standards for cookware, but a properly seasoned skillet from a company like Lodge will work just as well and be exponentially cheaper. Quality is important when selecting cookware but price/preformance ratios are important to consider too.
Edit: If we're allowed to make suggestions, (or if you or someone else can make suggestions to them and still maintain the overall quality of product): Drop the Le Crueset skillet for a cheaper one, and use the spot that took up for a nice chef's knife (or two) and a whetstone for sharpening.
5085666 as well intended as the advice is, I think when it's your wedding, you get to choose what you put there.

I was mostly just trying to help solve the issue I saw in the comments I replied to before something broke out ^^; Ultimately it is the final decision of the Spouses-to-be what does and doesn't go on their registry. Cooking and cooking equipment in particular just happen to be something that I've had a lot of experience 'finding the right one' with recently as I'm likely moving out soon so I need to start getting this stuff for my own kitchen :)
Holy shit, D, thank you <3 I was not expecting this! The registry was mainly a formality since people we invited would ask if we had one, but dear god, thank you!
Since there's no usernames and only real names coming with the gifts: Thank you, if you're reading this, for your kindness <3 We will use the gifts extensively and I seriously, seriously appreciate this outpouring of love.
My wedding is in five days I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO CRY UNTIL THEN, HOW DARE YOU SIR <3

Regarding this: while I appreciate the suggestions, we have lived together for about a year and do have the basics as well as some nice knives and a whetstone. The stuff on the registry are just things I specifically would like in a blue-sky, perfect world sort of situation, to complete my ideal kitchen for how I cook and bake.
I actually didn't expect anyone to buy off the registry, since for some reason custom demands a registry but people rarely buy from them. Hence, my delighted confusion xD
5085989 You've given of yourself so much, Middy, it's the least I can do.
...I swear to god this said Summer Dancer the first time I came through here.

Nope. It always said Midnight Dancer
