    Droppin' By

Hello, I was in the neighborhood and had just realized that my last blog post was a bit of a downer, given that it was around the time of my Grandma's passing and funeral. I think I oughta leave you folks with something a bit more upbeat or at least something neutral.

    And Now, A Newsletter

Huh, back in July I said I oughta talk more around here. It's now the day after Christmas and I have not, in fact, talked more around here.

So, I'll give you the rundown on what I've been up to since then. Warning, it gets a little long in talking about last summer's vacation and about a new fixation I have.

Thoughts on "The Last Crusade" · 5:54am Jun 22nd, 2019

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The Scootaorphan meme is dead! It's dead, it's dead, it's dead! :rainbowlaugh:

I always hated that fanon, and I'm glad it's been officially jossed. :trollestia:

That... doesn't mean I really like this episode. :ajsleepy:

I mean, sure, I find it amusing that Scoots' parents are the friggin' Crocodile Hunter and Jane Goodall, but...

I dunno, maybe the impact that everyone else feels is lessened for me because even after four seasons, I still don't like the Crusaders' cutie marks and shared special talent--especially since I found them more interesting as individuals than a unit, and them being shoehorned as a unit serving as a shortcut to someone's cutie mark journey or somehow being mature enough to be a freakin' counselor for someone with an identity crisis made them so boring. Sure, they still have different personalities, but I'd rather see them make their friendship work while they have different talents and marks (while growing in said talents), instead of the same ugly mark with minor differences just keeping them "CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS 4EVER!"

And with the plot about Scootaloo possibly moving away... let's be real, the moment they said that they were moving to some ridiculously faraway country with little chance of communication, you knew Scootaloo was staying in Ponyville. They were somehow going to convince her parents that she should stay in town, because she has a life and friends here, why tear them apart, blah blah blah...

I get it, her parents really should have considered how she would feel about the move, but it really irks me to see the cop-out of "look at Scootaloo and co.'s sooper important speshul unique talent and all the friends and peoples they helped" and then she gets to stay. Hooray for yet another contrivance that makes a cartoon character not be moving from town after all.

My eyes hurt from rolling so much.

Yeah... I think this episode's a little overrated.

Ok, I would’ve liked this episode, had it not been for the way the ending was executed.

They could’ve easily done a moral about staying friends after you move away to a faraway place. But no, they didn’t. This made the episode lack pretty much any moral, and I feel the potential was wasted, especially since this episode was called The Last Crusade!

I liked the Sccootaorphan fanon, but stand by me. I liked it because than she could become Rainbow Dash’s sister officially, and it made some good fanfics.

But now both headcanons are dead, and I’m left unsatisfied with the episode.

I guess, other than that flub, I guess I liked it? It wasn’t super impressive though, the crying got a little annoying.

I will say I am disappointed about ending but I do like the CMC as a group and like their cutie marks. This something they good so yeah.

The ending was kind of predictable, I agree. And between Scootaloo's parents and her aunts, there were so many bizarre accents this episode.

You know what I find really amusing though? The whole celebration at the end, where the mayor declares it CMC day and everyone throws them a party? That was their idea! Apple Bloom and Sweetie Bell must have marched into the mayor's office and been all "Mayor, real quick, we'd like you to declare a holiday in our honor and give us the keys to the city please."
