Turns out, all that extra work I put in paid off!
Last month, I wrote a story for the Incest is Wincest May Mother's Day Contest. Originally, I wasn't planning on entering the fic into a contest. I just wanted to write a story for Mother's Day this year because I simply had an idea for one. In the week and a half between my wisdom teeth surgery and Mother's Day itself, I spent long hours making some substantial revisions to the story based on prereader feedback.
I'm very grateful they all offered me advice, because without their help, the story wouldn't have turned out as well as it did. I'm elated to say that I ended up actually winning first place in the contest! Without a cash prize, competition was nowhere near as crazy as last month's, but I almost never enter writing contests, and this is the first one I've actually won.
So, yeah, it was really awesome having this pop up today. I've been slogging really hard on my main project, and was planning on blogging about that today, until this came up, so I'll withhold that little blog for tomorrow. Thanks again to everyone who gave me feedback on the story! This shot in the arm should hopefully see me through the next leg of my writing journey.
