(Haven't done a blog post since late March 2019.....)
-sigh- look everyone.... why is that y'all have to constantly down vote my stories?!!!! Y'all just don't know for a fact that I have been going through so many transformations online ever since my first transformation, aka Pony Sunset Shimmer, in September of 2016! It's my living for it!
Knighty.... if you ever read this blog post from me, please do me a favor and remove the down vote option in ratings. it's just really annoying :/
I get where you are coming from. Nobody likes to see their stories getting down-voted, for whatever reason. I get it must make you feel rather insecure considering all the time and work you spent on your stories, even if the fans don't agree with your direction. But the hard truth is that every fan is entitled to a manner of opinion, whether if it's in your work or in your stories and the best that can be done is knowing how to properly manage it. You don't have to like how the system works on this site but believe me when I say that should you choose a full time 'career' as an author and suddenly a ton of critics and buyers start spouting some negative reviews on your storytelling methods or portrayals of your own characters you'll remind yourself:

A true artist is not defined by their reception from the crowd but if they enjoy their work so much that the only person who needs any approval is themselves. And if you cannot handle that, if it proves too much for you... Why bother?

Honestly, I don't get what that means because to me that could be anything. Perhaps a transformation of one's own identity or view points, I'm never going to know. The only person who knows who you are is yourself and so you must ask yourself, 'Who do you want 'Jimmy' to be?'.
Otherwise if you don't figure out the person you want to be... You'll lose yourself forever.

I agree. On some of my stories I've got more downvotes than upvotes. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Criticism has helped me. On one of my stories (Engines to the Rescue!), a user was critical of my portrayal of Thomas, saying his words were out of line.
I then opened the next chapter with Thomas regretting what he had said in the previous chapter. The criticism helped to improve the story!

That doesn't preclude a story from judgement, I'm afraid. If it were, people would write TFs and nothing else.

People will downvote something if they don't like it. I admittedly have a tendancy to downvote clop, but that's an expression of opinion.
Ultimately, it doesn't mean those people who do downvote hate you as a person, or what you are trying to do. It just means they don't like the genre, or possibly the mechanics of the tale (in which case it's my fault, as I edit them). The day I see a story with no downvotes is the day I eat my hat.
However, disabling voting tends to send negative messages, as it creates the impression a writer cannot handle criticism.

Don't let it bug you, just have fun writing is what really counts.
People have various tastes and enjoyments, it's their right to have an opinion.
I take all criticism with a thought that those comments on my mistakes help me get better in the future!

Hey dude I know where not rely close but, well I'm not going to give the same usual "just forget about and write for fun". It seems everyone already gave you that., but here's my bullshit. There will be trolls. There will be jealousy. In all honesty I think you should be happy cause having a down vote, not many people see it like this, is actually a milD stone so. Yeah sorry I couldn't really give you some proper emotional comfort but don't look at it as failure. Look at it as progress to success. Successful men failed and that why they are successful

Oh dude. If Knighty responded to everyone who wanted the ratings turned off permanently, they'd go insane and the site would probably crash.
You're going to get hate no matter what you write. The nicer ones will usually tell you why, and the rest are trolls.
I ignore the downvotes in my own. Why? Because I don't pander to what some think should or shouldn't happen. They don't like it, then why are they reading it?
