Saw Avengers: Endgame yesterday · 12:29pm May 5th, 2019
No spoilers... but this is the second time I can personally recall where people spontaneously started applauding at the cinema.
(First time being that recent Tintin movie from a few years back, if anybody is wondering.)
So, yeah. Heavily recommended if you haven't seen it already. Well worth the price to see it on the silver screen.
First movie I saw to get that kind of... audience participation was "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" Those kind of experiences are something you either love or hate. Either magic or... well, I guess unholy magic.

Really regret missing Scott Pilgrim in cinemas. Had the flue, or some-such, so wasn't really by choice, but still. Just wish I'd gotten to see all those effects and fights on the big screen.
And do actually get what you mean about applause. Entire rest of the family grumbled a bit on the way home about having missed a line of dialogue... For some reason didn't feel like telling how hard I clapped along.
(Although I question how you miss a line of dialogue from sudden sound... when the movie is sub-titled in your native tongue. Found that a bit head-scratching, must admit.)
Was it the sucker-punch?

There was a smaller burst in the final fight-scene, but can't quite remember why since it's... well, a three hour movie.
The big one was just as the credits started rolling, though. Thought it a very sweet gesture.
