Calm Wind

We writers do not speak. We do not hear. We have no songs. We have no pictures. We only have scripture. From words we bring images. From words we bring emotion. From words we bring life.

The End of an Era · 3:31am Apr 26th, 2019

Im sure a lot of you are still wondering what my delay blog post was about the other day just before the chapter was released. Everything with me is fine and PTH is continuing as usual... but without a piece that has been there from the start and even before it.

Kestrel is retiring as my editor. Chapter 162 was his last run.

It's sad to see him go, but it was not unexpected. He's done with school and working full time now. Along with not being very involved with the pony fandom much at all anymore, he is moving on. He joined me back in 2014, somewhere around march and april to help me with Flying Sky High, the story that eventually helped me get out of the gate and into the open. He was also a member of my original group of pony friends, whom i still have a page up for on my front page.

But even before those friends came together, he was the first to appear along side Calm in many of my oldest pieces of art:

Many have come and gone, and we may not be in contact as much as we used to be, but he's always been there, and has always been a huge help. He's been a big part of this experience for me and the memories remain as i continue to include Rivet in his role in PTH.

With Kestrel gone, there is obviously a huge gap in my process. My preferred editing team consists of two members, a lead editor and an 'extra pair of eyes'. While the extra pair of eyes has shifted around a little (Lucky and Zoljien have been the two main fillers of that role over the course of the story) Kestrel has ALWAYS been my lead.

But it didn't take me long to decide on who will fill the role nicely. I have a frequent commenter who has consistently offered an additional look on their own and has managed to track down all sorts of small/subtler errors that managed to evade the rest of us. I contacted them soon after the delay blog and they have accepted.

A long time member of the team and friend in Kestrel is leaving, but Delphina34 will be joining us as the new lead editor in his place. Please give them a warm welcome! (And check out their deviantart page too)

It's been a fun five years. Godspeed Kestrel, thanks for everything and good luck in all of your future endeavors.

It's always sad to know that someone is leaving, I dont think that anyone is here forever, and those who leave will always be remembered (especialy those who contributed to the fandom like kestrel), but it's just a constant reminder that our numbers are decreasing, with the show ending, the fate of the fandom is sealed, unless G5 is a true viral masterpiece the days of the fandom are numbered.

I wish him the best, his contribution won't be forgotten.

Sad to see him go, I remember seeing the quality work y'all put out when I first joined. I hope to see him do well in whatever he plans to go on doing.

Goodluck, and Celestia and Luna be with you, Kes ;3

It's sad to know Kestrel is leaving us. He's really contributed so much to this fandom, and even more to this story. You'll be forever remembered, buddy, by all the fans. And sure, the show is coming to an end and the fandom will eventually too, but the memories will stay no matter what.

Thank you, Kestrel, for such a big contribution you've made to PTH. That story is great because of you too. You had an amazing run, I only wish you the best of wishes on your path

PTH FAS SALUTE

Huh, it’s kind of like attending my own funeral.

Thanks for the well-wishes, everyone.

Does this mean we won’t see Rivet ever again?!:fluttercry:

Thanks. I hope I’ll be a worthy successor.

I’ve been following this story for close to 3 years now, (discovered it in August 2016, by accident!). Now I get to be a part of it.

Rivet isn't being taken out of the story :derpytongue2: He was written into the outline on day 1.

Wish him the best!

I'm a bit late but best wishes to you both. It's sad to see Kestrel go but I'm glad he's moving on and doing good things for himself. Best of luck to Delphina, who'll have to search through long ass chapters in his place :raritywink:

Thanks for all of what you've done Kestrel!
