Status of End of Ponies · 5:00pm Feb 11th, 2012

Greetings Marsupials,

Some of you may be wondering if I'm doing any work at all on the next EoP update. Well, as a matter of fact, I have been. Quite a bit of work, actually. Somewhere in the ball park of 200,000 words worth of work.

However, quantity does not necessarily equal quality. You can still pave the way to hell with good conjunctions (ha, see what I did there?).

I should probably be more awake when I blog this, but whatever. EoP's latest arc, as epic as it is, is far from perfect. And as if the previous 24 chapters of End of Ponies aren't an indication, I strive to be better than perfect. I don't always reach it, but I try, and I have a lot of really nice and helpful editors to point me in the right direction... or slap me when I'm being a moron.

Long story short, this arc isn't working. It needs some massive changes, too massive for me to do immediately with any hope for sanity. I've decided--since I'm taking so gosh-dang-long to update anyways--to step back from EoP a bit, invest in other things, and come back refreshed so that it won't hurt so much when I start slashing apart the humongous wall of text that I've erected before the naked flanks of the internet.

For anyone who would like to read the abomination that is the current state of the arc, you can stalk my thread on Ponychan, but what you will see there is a horrendously superfluous thing with misguided characterization, plot holes, and action scenes that don't know when to quit. I think, sometime in the future, I might make a "DELETED SCENES" accompaniment to End of Ponies on FimFiction.net, and this version of the arc and many other horrible pre-edits will end up there, as a sign of what the fic has avoided to become it's official awesomeness.

My biggest regret with this fic is just how long it's taken me to update between arcs. I never wanted to upload trash to EqD or Fimfiction, and that's my excuse.

In the meantime, I think I'm going to try and occupy my time doing miniature MLP fics and other fun projects I've wanted to do. Then, in a few weeks, I'll go back to EoP, and hopefully I'll be refreshed to make the arc something worthy of the story in general.

Thanks for all the f'naaaaaaa

If I can wait 8 months for the next season of Dr. Who, I can wait for the next chapter of EoP as well, so do what you have to :trollestia:

Perfection takes time, my friend. Take as long as you want to make it right.

If you're not happy with it, how can you expect your readers to be happy with it. Keep on writing bro. Good luck. I love this fic, so make it better than perfect.

...How did you know that I am neither a primate nor an equimorph?

I do not care how long it takes - I will wait forever for this fic. Out of the hundreds upon hundreds of pieces of literature I have read or will ever read, EoP is permanently cemented in second place. The only, *only* piece of writing I love more than this is Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series, and even then it is an extremely close race. At the risk of sounding like a kiss-ass, I cannot humanly express how much I adore this story. Every single word grips me and doesn't let go.

Please for the love of Celestia never lose interest. I must know the mystery of the Onyx Eclipse! Take as long as you need and come back swinging.

I'm a fan of Starcraft and Duke Nukem. A few weeks or even a month or two will not phase me.

Absolutely love the fic, thanks for keeping us posted. I am amazed by the sheer size and quality of your writing, take however long you need your loyal readers will still be here. :moustache:

I can wait. I could wait months and months, because i know when it all comes together finally. That it will have been worth the wait.
Take as long as you need! And i'd love to read some of these 'fun' little fics you plan to do!

To be honest with you, I would be more than happy if you were to take a week or two (or even three or four) breather from the story, and did a couple of one shots or something. Hell, I know that I get bored out of my skull after a few tens of thousands of words, and considering you are in the half million NOT including what you are working on? I don't think anyone will judge you.

Take a break. Do a silly stupid one shot involving exploding muffins or something. :rainbowwild:

PS: I love you like a cupcake

I read chapters 1-24 in about 2 days. Since then I've been checking for more almost daily. So when you said you posted what was up so far, I couldn't help but read chapters 25-31 in their current state. They were awesome! Looking forward to reading them again, after you've made them even more awesome.

i have waited for Duke Nuke'em, Star Craft II, Diablo III, and each season of Dr. Who. breathlessly, and with great anticipation.

take your time my friend. i'll be here. and i will read it, and love it, and beg for more.

Serious Opinion:

After all is said and done, I want this story publsihed in a book and sitting on my bookshelf. I don't care how, I want it to happen. You're about 150k words away from becoming the longest FiM Fanfiction (more so than F:E). Maybe the longest Fanfiction ever.

Each of these arcs is a novel (an epic-length novel, but a novel nonetheless). As a follower of several different novel series, I know what it's like to wait months or years between books. Take all the time you need. I may be waiting with bated breath, but I can hold my breath for a long, long while.

Thanks for updating us. I am on chapter 8 and I saw that you haven't updated for a month, so I was scared that you have abandoned it. Thanks, really, I love this story, just can't read in one day.

I'd be happy to help with your story any way I can :3

I love this story. I don't know why everyone loves Fallout Equestria so much, it has thousands of comments, but I think you could get more exposure if you released the chapters by themselves, rather than in arcs. Just a suggestion. Also, Pinkie is your least favorite pony? :pinkiesad2:
