How do you do it?

Never throw anything away. If you're stuck, write from a character's POV you like. Kill someone off. Skip ahead in the story and write the scene you want to.
Considering how much I've liked your last couple of parody stories, this sounds like it's gonna be a treat. :)
By the way, just for clarification, is a Displacement story like an HiE?
