[Review/Recap] Miraculous Ladybug Season 3 Episode 3: "Christmaster" (SPOILERS)

(Editor's note: I haven't posted recaps of several episodes from S2 or the first two eps of S3 yet. I'm working on them and will be posting them at some point.)

Nino's impatient little brother Chris gets Akumatized into a Toy Story-themed supervillain.

So in this episode, we meet Nino's kid brother Chris, who Marinette is babysitting. He's exactly as much of a handful as Manon.

Marinette has a hope chest full of birthday gifts she'd made for Adrien...35 years' worth. I just can't even with this girl anymore. _-_ In her defense, she IS learning some of Alya's tricks, even if they work better on girls than boys.

Anyway, Marinette spins a yarn about being one of Santa's elves on a secret mission to cover for her trunk of Adrien gifts, and this sets Chris off on an I-want-toy-NOW tantrum, which leads to him being Akumatized while Marinette falls asleep working on one of her Adrien presents. She wakes up to find Paris encased in a giant snowglobe, plastic toy soldiers marching in the streets, and all kinds of crazy Toy Story shit happening.

The Santa Claus from the S1 Christmas special makes a return appearance, and, umm...OK, dood? It's nowhere CLOSE to Christmas, why the hell are you in your Santa costume? Seriously.

...oh wait, no, it sounds like this is part of what the Akuma did. Like, this guy's playing the role of Santa because there's a crashed sleigh and he actually thinks he IS Santa. I just don't know anymore, man. Weird episode is weird.

Ladybug uses the Christmas loophole she herself invented to get a Christmas present for Chrismaster, which she then uses to find his location so she can capture and purify his Akuma. At Christmaster's flying Lego fortress, Ladybug and Chat Noir are forced to fight Toy Ladybug and Toy Chat Noir. When Santa joins the fight to lure the toy heroes away, Christmaster unleashes a giant indestructible robot on Ladybug and Chat Noir. Ladybug outsmarts Christmaster into giving up his Akuma voluntarily.

The episode ends with Marinette squicking Chris out by going on and on about her mushy girly crush on Adrien.

I was waiting for the religious overtones to pop up in your description until I realized you made a typo in the title. Still, "Christmaster" would be an interesting premise for a fanfiction, probably.

There's no typo. The official name is "Christmaster". It's a multi-level play on words, because the kid's name is Chris, he creates a false Christmas, and he's the master of it.
