Well, there's some effort wasted. · 2:46am Feb 3rd, 2019
Well, I wrote a chunk for the fifth chapter for Many Happy Reunions yesterday, and after considering it and thinking it over...I've cut it. Not the first time that's happened, I had a chunk planned for the second chapter that was ultimately cut, and I think it's for the best, but still, I hate feeling like I've gone to a lot of work for nothing.
Odd tidbits from that cut bit will likely make it into the story, however, so there's that. And what I'm replacing it with should be much better.
Oh well. But hey, I still look forward to seeing what will come of it in the future. ^^
It happens. There have been points where I’ve scrapped several paragraphs because they just weren’t working out. Of course, I tend to agonize over stuff as I’m writing it so instances where I’m actually scrapping large volumes of text are rare.
There was one time where I did scrap about 66k words but it was for some original fiction I’ll hopefully finish some day.

And I'm looking forward to writing it. Just hoping that I can find the time. Hopefully my work schedule will ease up after the Super Bowl, but we'll see.

In this case it was less the segment not working out, and more the actions of the characters involved coming across as needlessly cruel against other characters. If a character doesn't come across as consistent to me, I know that what they do (or fail to do, whichever) will bother my readers. Fine line between karma and Disproportionate Retribution.
Also, yikes. I applaud the dedication to the craft, but still, yikes.
I wouldn't look at it as effort wasted at all personally. It very well may have been that you dodn't catch what was wrong until after you put it down into words if you will. Or at the least you weren't convinced that it wasn't right until after you did such.

...that is a better way to look at it, thanks.
