Trope Fodder... · 5:41am Nov 30th, 2018
As mentioned in the last blog, there's now a TVTropes page for Changeling Space Program and The Maretian (with My Flight thrown in).
Now, my favorite thing about TV Tropes are the "sugar Wiki" categories: Crowning Moment of Awesome, Crowning Moment of Funny, Heartwarming, Tearjerker, and Nightmare Fuel.
So, while I'm at Anime Dallas trying to pay my December bills and maybe get money for a transmission repair...
... what moments from CSP, Maretian, and My Flight are Crowning Moments of Awesome?
Of Funny?
Of Heartwarming?
What are the Tearjerkers?
And what's the Nightmare Fuel?
About Nightmare Fuel. The spookiest scene is when Dragonfly went crazy from hunger and attacked Mark while impersonating Johanssen, thus related trope should be in Nightmare fuel slot, though to be honest, it doesn't really qualify, is not that scary considering context. Murderous Mars also not really nightmarish, just overpowered misanthropic jerk.
Heartwarming: when Chrystlist manage by accident to go to lower Equest orbit.
Awesome Moment? Spitfire gets launched into the dust storm. And survives.
Tearjerker:
Sojourner looking at Dragonfly's pod
Funny: Luna teleports her moon away from Probodobodyne at the last possible moment like a true jackass
Nightmare fuel?
Dragonfly and he being able to hear death talk about killing them.
Imagine; Your stuck on on island, and every couple minutes you hear something whisper "I'm going to kill you." That would not be the best scenario.
Nightmare fuel? Three words.
Crunch. Crunch. Crunch.
4974787 I did make an effort to give everyone at least one real such moment, although I wasn't able to do much for Fireball. And, of course, Cherry's moment is right there in chapter 1...

I had a nightmare like that once, except it wasn't a whisper and the words were, "There's a man standing behind you." Plus sleep paralysis, so fun times.
Realities of space travel will probably work as Nightmare Fuel. Like launch being astronaut/mare sitting on controlled explosion, with chance of turning into uncontrolled explosion. And when in space/mars, only thing separating cozy, pressurized atmosphere and Bad Day is thin layer of metal/canvas/changeling goo and other suit materials/rock (in case of cave farm)
Nightmare fuel: Apollo 13. Enough said. I still haven't actually read this yet, sadly. I've had it on my list for some time now, but so are a suprising amount of others. I was waiting until it started updating again, though...
4984686 I meant, what's nightmare fuel in the CSP/Maretian stories? I didn't write (or live) Apollo 13/Lost Moon.
