It's the obligatory new year blog post.

And yes, I am posting this at around midnight on new year. I have a nasty cold, so I decided to disobey nurgle's one command and stay home.

    Just for kicks

I'm mucking around with Lulu for a work-related project (very boring stuff) and thought I would do a quality test with something fun.

    The odd things

I've just been reading through old comments on my scraps story, after publishing yet another chunk from the ancient cutting room floor. It's remarkable how many of the commenters are still around - but also how many logged off for the last time, soon after making their last comment there.

    But in brighter news

While I'm not making any promises about any particular project here, I am actually writing again. I figure if I write enough of something, some pony words might drop out somewhere along the line as well. You never know. What I'm working on at the moment is essentially a re-write of a story I read a long time ago; an old pulp sci-fi tale, about a spaceship that manages to get lost in the

I don't normally bring much attention to my scraps bin... · 8:06pm Sep 15th, 2018

... but in this case I think I must. I had, some time ago, written a short chapter that was a kind of intro to a romance between Derpy and Octavia. Greypones represent and all that. At some point I unpublished it, thinking I could bring the full story to compleetion, but then it sat on my drive for a couple of years without going anywhere.

The story was to be called Adagio for Wings; the prologue Adagio Tenerezza, and the follow-on chapters named for various parts of a symphony. I had plans, you see, for a story in four or at most five parts, each written to roughly coincide with the parts of a classical symphony - though probably not in the precise order that the form generally took. The first "real" chapter was called Poco Agitato.

I failed. It sucks. You might as well read what I managed to write.

Hey, long ago I wrote a slice-of-life interaction between these two. I think they make an interesting pair. I've got some old stuff I haven't gotten around to revising yet, and the longer I take, the more extensive an overhaul it takes, but it's still doable. Hell, sometimes it's easier to start over than salvage what's there. You still can. If you decide to, I'd be happy to help. I know a lot about classical music, musicians, and instruments, and I've helped several authors with that aspect.
