Did you guys know that Wisconsin is known as "The Badger State?"
I simply cannot help myself:
(More after the jump.)
So it's been a little over 3 months since my family and I have moved to Wisconsin. Since then I've: tried cheese curds, tubed down a river, participated in a fun run 5k, and worked for about two months as a waitress (my first real job since becoming a stay-at-home mom 4 years ago), and.... oh yeah, my mother-in-law bought my son two ponies. Did I mention we have a bunch of chickens? We seriously have too many eggs.
Super behind on MLP. Next episode I need to watch is s8e8, the Parent... whatever. Avoiding spoilers like the plague (which basically means I can't look at my feed... Is there a way to filter out blog posts? I like seeing blog posts from people I follow, but it gets ENGULFED in the group posts.)
Come Monday I (and I alone) will be making my way back to California to enjoy a longtime friend's major milestone of marriage. I am now "between jobs" (though I already have a job offer.) I'll be back home on the 16th.
But hey, who cares about my boring old life? Check out these ponies!
This one is Ted. He's just a colt. I forget how old exactly. Little scamp keeps escaping his pen. He likes to nibble on my shirt and move our patio furniture around.
This is Molly, his mom. We suspect she's pregnant. Husbando is hoping that it's another colt so that we can name him "Bill" (heh.)
Life here has been up and down. I've been super depressed to the point of being suicidal on the one end. On the other end I've felt more empowered here than I have in all my time back in Cali after getting married. I'm working on faith, trying to keep my head up. The good thing is, our ultimate goal of finally making real progress in paying off our debts seems to be succeeding! What I really want is some damn emotional stability. That's entirely on me though. It's a work-in-progress.
Short post. We started watching "I Kill Giants". Enjoying a little extra time with family before my flight Monday.
Welcome to Wisconsin! Have you managed to—
well that's about the gist of it then. You've experienced most of what this state has to offer.
We do have a lot of great parks though. Have you made it up to Devil's Lake?

No, I haven't been to devils lake yet! It's a bit of a drive from me: 2 1/2 hours. Maybe next summer I can convince hubby to go? With fall coming, our window is closing for any serious travel.
I've never lived in the snow. I iz scared. My Latina blood craves warmth lol.
EXCELLENT!!! *air guitar riff*
Bill and Ted are great names for ponies! Plus, you get the double reference, with Sam's pony from Lord of the Rings. Sounds like you got a nice little setup going there, chickens seem like fun.
I hope things continue to improve for you, and I hope your trip to Cali goes off without a hitch!
