Hi all. I hope everyone is doing well. I've been taking an extended break from FimFiction lately. Had some undesirable interactions with some users. That coupled with some of my creative frustrations just makes logging on... kind of unpleasant? If I do log on, it's usually to try and catch up with the fics I'm reading and then I quickly log off. I'm just feeling drained with the MLP fanfic community, if I'm being honest.
If any of you follow me on Twitter, you'll have seen my thread about where I'm at with writing fanfics and what my upcoming creative schedule will be like. Since I made that thread, I've been feeling slightly better, and I even got some great comments since then. Not a massive ton, but enough to get me motivated to start the next chapter for What They Expect to Give. I know I mention "detailed feedback" a lot in the thread, but as I had to explain to one person, "detailed" doesn't just mean "critical". Detailed positive comments are encouraging too! That said, I'm open to constructive feedback, I just know that not everyone has the energy or skill to provide that.
Anyway, I don't really feel like reiterating everything I said in the thread. I think I summed up my feelings pretty well. I'm still going to write horse words, don't worry. This isn't me jumping on the "I'm quitting the platform" trend. But my earlier ambitions to have all these stories updated in the small time frame I was originally thinking is just very unlikely right now. That could change, along with the tentative writing schedule I set out. Maybe one story will get updated instead of another. I have to take the path of least resistance to keep the juices flowing. But for the moment I'm slowing the rollout of updates overall. I've been reading a lot more, and I've really enjoyed that.
If anyone wants to send me a message, you'd be better off sending me a DM on Twitter or connecting with me on Discord. I won't post my Discord username publicly, but even if you message me on this site asking for it, I'll get back to you eventually. Just maybe not rapidly.
Anyway, I hope 2024 has been good to you all so far! I can't remember the last time I had a smooth start to a new year, but this certainly isn't the worst start I've had.
See you later! Best wishes for everything!
"What they expect to give" is one of the few very good and long FlutterDash stories that is still being continued. As a huge shipper of these two characters you have no idea how much it means to me for that story to be continued and finished alongside seeing more FltterDash content from you.
So please don't give up.
I don't want to see this story...and you go...hollow
