World building racism? · 3:59am Aug 23rd, 2018
Racism, as often cruel and unjust as it is, I find good for world building in a story.
What about you? Are you over sensitive to deal with racism in a story, even if it makes it more realistic?
I personally find that if everyone gets on with sunshine and rainbows you make the story less believable. At the same time you really should show that there are bad or good people on both sides of the issue. Don't just make all ponies bad or all humans bad.
That’s...
Actually sort of true. Don’t get me wrong I hate racism and I do believe the world could be better. But it is building a story, and just like a story, previous chapters tell us the back story. It talks about mistakes that were made and in the present chapter, allows us to right a wrong. I see where you’re coming from Bendy.
Racism builds a story and it makes me laugh. Sooo win win!
I guess this is true, but you accidently posted the same blog twice
I always thought that the countries outside of equestria hold deep resentment toward the three pony clans.
Anyone who lives in the badlands dosent like Earth ponies, because the badlands can’t grow crops.
The griffins don’t like Pegasi (which also could be a good point showing how good friends Gilda and Rainbow Dash were.) just because the griffins think they are better flyers.
The Zebra don’t like Unicorns, because the Zebra focus more on Rune magic and Potions, instead of the unicorn magic. The Zebra think unicorn magic is devil work.
(This is all my head canon by the way)

How do you get a black guy outta a tree?
You cut the rope.
(I had to, not sorry.)
Its always fun to watch racist characters get slapped in the end. Or really any type of evil character. Many people criticise SAO, but if anything, it has a really satisfying ending, when that rapist elitist piece of shit gets himself a new butthole torn. Same for that wannabe pope from hellsing ultimate.
Well, racism is just a part of life. Everyone is at least a little bit racist. Descrimination be it by how one looks be it the color of their skin or the way they dress or their culture. We're surrounded by bigots everywhere we go.
"I don't date ____ people"
"That person that commited that murder wasn't white! He was jewish!"
Even hating someone just for being born a gender can be labeled sexist but still has its roots in racism. Demonizing everything about the gender rather than just a stereotyping but more "all males are rapists", "it's not rape if a woman does it", "males are all pedophiles" but the law turns a massive blind eye to young men and women being exploited by older women on a fairly big scale.
World building imho has no limits. No topic is taboo enough to explore like racism if the context is there. Is it irrational violent racism? Misconceptional racism such as what can happen between two different cultures not understanding each other?
Racism is as much a tool one can use to create a story such as the fears and paranoia that come from ignorance and pride. No subject is technically bad when it's used for world building or simply give a POV from a view you wouldn't normally see. A story from the eyes of that racist school chanelor whatever antagonist pony from s8 would be a good example for character exploration. Ponies have had quite a long history of racism and not just with other species.
So, why would racism be such a big deal in a story? Descrimination is far reaching and effects us all on a daily basis, be you white, black, or any race. So no, I do not take harm with racism in a story. Not unless it was just a mouth piece for the author to promote harm on another race or person irl.
We need to remember that there is a very fine line between Fantasy and Reality. The two can often blur from time to time but as the creator you should always be well aware the difference between the two. Context, unlike the EU's opinion on such a word, truly matters. For if I wrote about a story of a pug that went on to gas all the jews, and he repeatedly gased the jews on a daily basis, then why should that be deemed a hate crime? It's a racist dog out to gas jews. It's not the author irl wanting to gas the jews. So why are people, most who aren't jews, wanting people to be imprisoned or worst for writing or making a video of a dog that replies to gas the jews, mean the creator or one who taught the dog to react with salutes when you say gas the jews, be forced to face real life crimes?
So, as a strong believer of free speech and one who believes context bloody matters so one can differientiate between a joke and a call for attacks on someone, I strongly stand by the notion no topic is too taboo to create a story.
