My story, and why writing MLP leaves me now.... conflicted

I think my last post was brief, so I might as well go into some detail here about my story, why I started writing mlp fanfic, and what is happening now.

    G5: OH THE IRONY...

You know, it's really really funny... G5 has all the three tribes of ponies hating each other, and living in a modern setting centuries after FiM. I wrote about this very ideas years ago, before G5 was ever conceived of, in a story where Celestia and Luna go on a vacation incognito to the earth pony town of Coltonville, and find pony hatred and paranoia, as well as a conspiracy against unicorn

    Returning for real this time

Okay, everybody, Paradise/Tornado here again! Yes I know it's been a year, but I needed time to recover from a ten-year burnout in writing, and it took awhile to get my creative juices flowing again. I'm putting together plans for a new story or two, though my plans for my 'big finish' story are on hold again. I hope many of you are still here, and look forward to entertaining all of you with my

Equestria, the FiM cartoon, and It's relation to Ponyland · 6:43pm Aug 22nd, 2018

Hello, Paradise Oasis here (the author, not the character) and today I wanted to clear up the differences between Equestria, Ponyland, and how it all relates to Ponyland in my MLP fanfic universe.

Equestria is a name that evokes a lot of Feelings in my MLP universe. On the whole, Equestria is a kingdom to the south of Ponyland, Ruled by the alicorn princess Skyla, it is a state of perpetual cold war with the Ponyland confederacy. But there was a civilization that once existed in Ponland called the ancients, whom the Ponylanders drove out when they conquered and established the confederacy five hundred years ago. It is assumed the Ancients were the ancestors of the Equestrians, and their resentment is a result of the loss of their northern lands.

Princess Cadence, Applejack, and Spike are all survivors from the time of the ancients, but their memories have become muddled by the slow decay of time. while there are some well-kept records from the period before the conquest, it's hard to separate fact out from fiction. 'The harmony bearers' are a popular and well remembered series of heroic folk tales, much like the stories of King Arthur and his knights. And several Ponyland families, who are descended from the few ancients who remained in Ponyland, claim descent from the Harmony bearer houses.

In the years leading up to the events of the story 'the Magnificent Six', a series of historical fiction novels were published in Bright Valley, titled 'friendship is magic', that matches the events of the cartoon show. These stories are more fiction than fact, with such fanciful additions as Tirac and the Smooze being around in the time of the harmony bearers (both were crated in the Harmony bearer's lifetime, but they did not start to menace ponies until centuries later.) twilight sparkle visiting the human world when it was in it's medieval period through a mirror, but it resembled the modern world instead, or the Breezies, Sea ponies, and other races existing before they were created at Tambelon. These fanciful changes were made to enhance the novel's appeal.

In short, the events of the cartoon 'Friendship is Magic do not occur exactly as the cartoon depicts them in my universe. Rather, they are a set of fairy tales and novels based on the Historical alicorns and Harmony Bearers that exist in Ponyland's past. I hope that clears up some of the discrepancies in my stories.

Very nice explanation of things for those who don't understand your world or how it works. I do have one question, will there ever be a time when Ponyland falls and the Equestrians take the northern lands back?....or something where they at least start to become less adversarial to one another?

No, Ponyland will never fall on my watch. However, I do plan to have them make peace soon...:ajsmug:

Ah, that makes things more understandable. I knew a rough overview of your world's history, but hadn't known the detail about FiM as seen being a work of popular fiction. Now things will make more sense.

That is good that peace will be coming along eventually. I take it that will happen in a story?

Actually, the majesty story wraps up the 'cold war' when it is finished. There are stories after that where there is cultural tension, but not outright hostility.

I will; say, the two will never change; ponyland will never stop being a morally conservative warrior culture, and Equestria will never stop being a peaceful, inclusive and friendly society. The trick is for the two to learn and get along. There is room in the pony world for the both of them.

Given that there is a "cold war" between the two nations, I would think both would develop more of a warrior mentality and both sides would become a bit distrustful of other races. If Equestrians traveled to Ponyland or a Ponylander traveled to Equestria, how would things turn out?

4924231
It wasn't a total cold war, more like higher ups in the Equestrian government fostering and perpetuating the hate; ponies who think like chancellor neighsay.

Alright. I thought you were talking about something like the Cold War between the USA and the USSR.
