I come across plenty of horrible stories. No, it's not the quality of writing or pacing or any other technical aspect of writing, no. It's the awful content. I'm not the most moral person on the planet, but... weird fetish fics (you don't want to know), rape (romanticized or just porn), grotesque gore stories (another thing you don't need to know), and so on.
It would be wonderful if Fimfiction allowed blocking tags so that stories with the said tags wouldn't appear in my suggestions or anywhere else. Considering that M-rated fics don't appear unless you change the settings, blocking things based on what they contain is technically possible. Why it hasn't been implemented yet, I have no idea. It would certainly be more useful than removing colors from tags and making round profile pictures. I'm looking at you, knighty.
Some people might say that I can just not read what I don't like. Well, I don't read them in the first place. I don't want to see those fics, this is the issue I'm pointing out in this blog post. I have already seen enough stuff to make me start balding at the age of nineteen. I'd rather prevent myself from being stressed any more than try to destress myself... somehow.
Granted, I've written pretty heavy stuff, but... I can find plenty of excuses to justify myself and explain exactly why I wrote what I did. And, to be honest, what I wrote is sunshine and flowers compared to what I've seen even in story descriptions.
So, Fimfiction needs the ability to blacklist tags and authors. There are plenty of writers I don't want to even contact, and that's why they're in my block list. However, it doesn't prevent me from seeing their stories pop up where I don't need them.
I hope you agree with me.

Yep. I currently downvote stories because I don't want to read them. Whether they are quality or not, I have no way to flag them as unwanted, so have to apply a downvote.

I'd like a porn filter as well. I just don't feel like porn is worth reading anymore. I like sex and stuff, but... Porn is losing its charm for me, I suppose. Relationships are where it's at, even though I've yet to have one. I'm more interested in relationship stuff because it's much more meaningful and... no idea how to really describe it.
I fully and 100% agree to this new implementation feature on holy pony fiction. This must be indoctrinated NOW!
well, not sure if those post suggestions actually read by anyone who has access to source code and admin rights for fimfiction, but may be those features will appear after much waiting. In free/libre software world support for legacy opengl profiles/contexts was for long time considered low-priority..yet this year it suddenly was implemented!

And a bit of cliche recommendation, but http://www.johnclilly.com/mind01.html ("The Mind of the Dolphin: A Nonhuman Intelligence") started my own thinking about objective and subjective in psychology, how we live, how humans do science and thinking (badly ..) and so on. Thing is, it nearly seems at least some humans too overfocused on sex(y) part of sexual revolution, and ignored any associated thinking ...and thus ruined it... I think for now I can safely say love is not easy to implement correctly today, and even imagining it outside of some stereotypes (both old and new) is not easy! But living by it definitely hardest part...

Now you can laugh a bit, because for me all this definitely just theory for now (not counting my time with captive dolphins ..;/ I think it was as close to 'relations' with them as I ever had..so, {captive, thus very robbed from everything by their situation} dolphins and street dogs.. as only real non-humans I was around for long enough time ...)...
I only read 'Alicorn of music' up to ch 29, but so far I think I agree with Elu ... if there is well-developed empathy from early age - those beings simply will not try something painful, or with high probability of negative consequences.. can modern humans actually be such enlightened beings is open question.... at least some humans can refuse widespread misconceptions about 'how life must be done', but those usually very rare ....
We need to make a petition about this...
