IN WHICH I ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING
Sometimes it's best to stop caring. With that said, here's some Kyary.
Fun Fact: Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has the same producer as J-Pop royalty Perfume. Anyway…
So after deciding to stop giving a shit about quality, thereby attempting to just type out the basics of what was in my head, I actually managed to finish my second Sonata Burritoverse story!
At currently 4,650 words, it is by far my longest Burrioverse fic. Part of the reason for its length is that it gives characterization to OC's who have never had any before. Unlike the original Sonata Burrito fic, this one does have at least one song reference, though during tweaking, I might see if adding any more would be appropriate.
One thing that sort of bugs me is that I really wish I could afford to commission some custom art of Sonata wearing the Burrito Barn uniform, which I describe in some detail during the story. Maybe that can wait until the final story where Sunset and Sonata finally meet again -- that's not really a spoiler, as I've made it clear from the beginning that this is where the Burritoverse was always headed.
It really heartened me when readers realized that I had made Sonata work at the Burrito Barn by authorial fiat and openly expressed hope she was enjoying her job, and glad she had a job. Well, I couldn't leave out the details of how she got there now could I?
My half-Posh-inspired Sunset story is also sitting on the site awaiting tweaking. I don't have cover art for it yet either. I'll explain where and how it fits (and doesn't) into continuity once it's posted.
This weekend is literally just me spinning my wheels until big things start happening next week. That being the case, I'm so glad I was able to finish "Sonata 2" before then, even if it'll take longer to tweak. I could go back through all of my old stories and add words until they're back at OCD-approved word counts – Spider Queen is a good example: before the site update it was 4,000 words exactly, now it's less. I want to fix that.
Oh, and as I've said, I've almost completely finished the crackfic story for my 300th blog post. You're likely to hate it, which is the point.
I've learned that it's often best, after one has finished a story, to sit on it and not come back for at least a few days in order to be able to look at it through fresh eyes. Better to edit after a little distance.
Granted, I take it to extremes. Reading some of my older stories, I literally have a hard time believing I wrote them. Mostly because they're too good for me to accept I had anything to do with them. Same with some of my high school and college cartoons. They were written by someone who actually has talent -- yes, it's my signature on them, but I must have, like, possessed an alternate universe doppelganger of myself who isn't a complete loser and stolen his or her (hey, parallel universes get weird; I could have a female counterpart -- she'd probably have short hair since I don't) hard work.
Today was a sleep day. I'd planned to wake up early and accompany my mother to the gym again, but she was unable to wake me and ended up going without me. I felt bad because I'd planned to go. Well, I'ma just go tonight right after I post this. I did eat half a thin-crust pizza, so I could stand to exercise, I suppose.
So… yeah. That's all from me on a Friday night.
Peace out!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYnA9wWFHLI This is super relaxing and makes it hard to get worked up about nearly anything.
Congrats on finishing the story! Good song too. :)

We use ‘Weightless’ to get my five-year-old settled so she’ll go to sleep—with varying degrees of success (it depends on the day she had).
‘Only Time’ by Enya works well too. Enya will sedate pretty much anyone.

I think I have the second one on my music playlist. :D
