A story Idea that feels too good not to share · 8:25pm Jul 11th, 2018
Second Person is an extremely unique format. One that actually puts you, the reader, into the story as the main character. This is an immersion tactic that is rarely done well, and usually just lets the reader perform some basic escapism and go on a rollercoaster that the author provides for them. Not all like that sp stories don't have this element of choice. They wish their character could make the choices that, they as a person, would do. This is were things like 'choose your own adventures' that CategoricalGrant and other authors do special, or what makes a story like Broken Bindings so unique. It provides the reader with a sense of choice. They propel their own narrative, or can simply choose to stop.
However, I'm two parts masochist and one part sadist, and I like to inflict pain on the reader. See Man's Best Friend, Something You'd Regret, and other stories.
What's kind of cool about comments on fimfic is that it creates a sense of community. You give the readers a chance to interact. A chance to give feedback.
But, what about a second person story?
If YOU are a character in the story, the comment box can be one of the only ways you can actually inject yourself into the story. To say something. To create an interaction with YOUR story.
What if the opposite end of the story, your interaction. Your penpal, is begging for you to write back. To say something. anything. That comment box would be your way to reply. Wouldn't it?
What if we just... disabled the comments on that story. Or for every chapter after the first 3. You cannot respond. You cannot give him/her the comfort they need.
What if you had to watch a character unfurl, break down, tear themselves apart... just because you can't reply?
I think that would make a good story. a good fic.
Maybe I'll write it some day, but I dont think I have the time or attention to do it now.
I'm reporting you to the proper authorities.

the whole story is fueled by audience input, until Luna reaches her lowest point, and then she couldn't hear the audience's advice or encouragement anymore because of Discord's interference
I've read a few stories like this. And only one out of the few I think did id decently. It'll be a tough go, but id give you the benefit of the doubt as you are one of my favorite writers, and you write well enough that I think you could do it. it'd be rather interesting to be honest.
This sounds like Homestuck.
Emulating Homestuck is a bad idea.
