So, some good news today: The EU copyright law I have been so hard on against failed to pass into law yesterday.

The bad news; it got sent back to committee for review, which means it may come back less skullfuckingly bad, it may come back unchanged, or it may get worse, and if SOPA, PIPA, and Net Neutrality have taught us anything, it's that the foes in this particular battle are pernicious and unending in their desire to burn the internet to the ground for a profit margin.

I'll try to keep you guys informed if things change towards September when we may have to do this song and dance again, and to anyone who raised awareness or contacted their MEP; Good fucking job.

Take care, all of you.

That’s good.

I may not live in Europe, but i'm still very happy for this turn of events. Hold on tight to your victories when you get them, for they never come often enough.

Yay! Hopefully they will see that is just a plain bad idea and that most sites do a good job of regulating themselves.

I've heard similar talk here in the United States. I suppose I could write to the local congress and senate representatives and let them know what we think here as well. Not sure if that will help there, but with how far the Internet ranges it might not hurt, either.

I'm don't live in Europe, but I'm still rooting for you guys. This is for you:
