Average brony obsessing over the main cast with an unhealthy desire to see them in a dark fantasy setting.

:ajsmug: Evening Everyone

:applejackunsure: So, I went into this chapter with basically no idea as to what I was going to do with Dash's parents. When I brought dash in way back in HM1, Ch13, I had a few facts about dash ready.

1) Dash has a weak body but heals quickly.
2) Dash has something that causes her to be anemic.
3) Dash is a competitive spirit and likes good competition.
4) Dash and Shy grew up together.

And that was about it. While I've kinda built her up over the story, I hadn't really set any facts down about her character till I wrote HS6, Ch36, Of Ravens and Rainbows. Here I figured out how she and Scootaloo came to be where they are, but I also threw a jab in P7, 35 about Rainbow's mother being infertile. I knew I had that basic idea as to why she was an only child, but that was about all the thought I'd put into her parents. In Parental Glideance, it never really made sense to me that (if that's the case and we don't get another shining armor) Dash is an only child if their parents are fanatics about her. From the people I've met in my life, only children usually are the result of a bad hook up, a divorce, or were mostly neglected by their parents. When you really love your partner, you don't stop at one kid (more often than not even if it's financially irresponsible).
So I got the idea from there that her parents just couldn't make more kids, or just had so much trouble with it that finally having one survive was about all they could ask for by the time it happened. But that's really tough on a marriage. My real life example would be my older brother, whom I lived with in college. His wife miscarried her first pregnancy, and it was rough to be in the apartment we shared at the time. There was a dark cloud in their side of the house, they didn't speak much to each other for a while, and there were a few fights. It's been about three years since then and they have two now, but imagine if that happened twice? Bow and Windy are the result of that line of thinking. I figured out why they're infertile, and what Dash's home life was like before and how they reacted to the things that happened to her, and now we're here. I like what I've come up with and I like what I have planned, and I hope you enjoy Pinkie's little joke in this chapter. I can poke fun at my own writing every now and again can't I?

:derpytongue2: Anyways, that's all from me. I'll make an attempt to get the next part out relatively quickly, but I will promise no specific date since that went so well the last couple times I did it.
Until Next Time~
