I really wish I could give you a recap of the keynotes that took place yesterday, but with work, I was having trouble keeping up with everything being announced, and then of course, this happened, and everything else went out the window:
And it was even joined with a release date! January 25th, 2019, nearly 21 years to the day of RE2's original release.

One thing I don't get: Anyone who is bitching about how the faces look, please do yourself a favor and shut the fuck up.
I don't recall ANY character looking exactly the same from one game to the next. Did Leon look the same from RE2 to RE4? From RE4 to Degeneration?
No. It's called artistic liberty and 21 fucking years later. All of you need to find something that really matters to whine about. Just be happy that Capcom listened to fans clamoring for this game for 15 years, and we're finally getting it in seven months.
This'll be my first time playing the RE game that debuted my favorite RE protagonist. Let's go Leon!

I'm looking forward to being scared shitless.
I never played the original RE because it was the only M-rated franchise that my mom made me wait until 17 to play. I'm glad she did, because by then, REmake was out. I watched my older cousin play it on his PS1 along with RE2 when I was 10.
When I finally got to RE2 seven years after release in 2005, the graphics were dated enough to not be scary in the slightest.
So here's hoping it delivers some good jump scares, or keeps the tension so consistently high like RE7 where jumpscares wouldn't make a difference because you're on edge the whole fucking time.
The Sony conference did confirm that Death Stranding has gameplay that involves walking.
I need to know what the FUCK that game is supposed to be.

I remember playing Umbrella Chronicles and not being prepared for the Crimson Heads. Holy GOD in Heaven I wasn't ready.

I really wish I found aiming easier in that game. I never beat it. Made it to the snow level (one of the last ones, I think) and just couldn't beat it due to headshots being a must, and the quicktime events, and I had no idea what buttons to push because it was one of the only games I played on the Wii.
I heard Darkside Chronicles was even worse in regards to demand for headshots.

Yeah the snow one is the last level. And I concur the QTEs were EXTREMELY bullshit in that game.

When I saw the trailer I had to look away when the zombie began eating the police agent. It just looked too gruesome and too realistic. Thus if the whole game will look that good I can totally understand why some people want to play it. But it is certainly not a game for me (even if I'm impressed how good it looks).
Did they already do a proper remake of the first RE? Seems a little strange to remake the sequel but not touch the first one. Of course, this is coming from someone who has never played any of the games before, so I could be wrong.

Yes. It was completely remade from the ground up in 2002, and the fanbase codenamed it "REmake". It was then touched up to widescreen and full HD in 2015.
Even today, the 2002 Gamecube version holds up, and looks better than any 16-year old game has any business of.
So we've got RE2 getting the high quality treatment. Excellent. Next it's gotta be RE3.
Me, I got spoiled by playing RE4 first. I'd really like to see 0-3 be given the same over the shoulder approach to gameplay.
I don't know, do you look exactly the same as you did six years ago? I don't mean to sound contrarian, but there is a significant time skip between 2 and 4. And isn't Degeneration a movie? While we're at it, I'm pretty sure Leon and Claire looked pretty similar between Resident Evil 2 and Darkside Chronicles.
That said, they look a little more baby-faced than I'm used to, but I just chalk it up to the fact that Leon and Claire are respectively a rookie cop and an 18 year old. An HD remake would certainly make that more apparent than the PlayStation did, so it's nothing to bitch about.
