Why does this adorable filly scare me? · 4:27am Jun 6th, 2018

Okay, so Green and I watched the most recent MLP episode. It was nice. Yes, Starlight memeface; nice to see the CMCs as always; oh and also... this thing. There's something... unsettling about this pony.

Okay, for context, look at this clip where Cozy Glow meets the CMCs.

There's something about this character that feels... off. The extra sad violin in the background. The pouty expression. The cutesy way she rounds her "O" sounds. The way she sort of sounds like she's mispronouncing her L's and R's (like, she almost sounds like she's saying "Cozy Gwow" and "Fwiendship"; she's not, but... it's not right). The way she says "Golly!" and "Oopsie!" It's too much. It's cloying. All of it feels like an insincere affectation. Within seconds of meeting her, I said to Green, "I don't trust her." He said the same.

And then there are other flashes. The way she asks the CMCs "What's in it for you?" The frustration she shows at Mrs. Cake's rainbow sprinkles. And, lest we forget, THIS F:yay:KING FACE.

That is not the face of someone with good thoughts. That's a face that buries its victims in the basement.

And one more thing: her cutie mark is a chess piece. Chess pieces mean either strategy... or manipulation. I should know. I've written a calm, seemingly sweet pony with barely contained psychotic side and she had chess pieces on her flank too.

But at the end of the episode, apparently she's... not bad. I mean she lied, but did so to try and help the CMCs get what they wanted. And she seemed to genuinely feel bad when they got in trouble. So I had the kid wrong, right?

Well, the more I watch her, the more I think this was all part of something else. Something bigger. I can't pinpoint it exactly, but something about her weirds me out. There is something very wrong here, and I feel it on an almost instinctual level. I'm reminded of that one episode of House, MD that explains why people get the creeps around psychopaths.

Now, I know there were spoilers about later on in Season 8, so some of you might already know if I'm right or if I'm wrong. However, I've steadfastly avoided them. Therefore, please do me a favor and don't tell me. I want to wait and see. 🔍

Until next time, folks!

Your image there (of the face) appears to be broken, and I think I must have looked away at that moment when watching the episode, though I've heard of it since. I do remember getting something a little... off from her, though, at least at first. And, you know, why looking at the wiki to try and find the image you meant to link, I found something else: At one point in the CMCs' training, when they were quizzing her on the Elements, she answered "control" for one of them. So that can be added to everything else...

Right. Pretty sure the writers are dropping little hints that something's up. :trixieshiftright:

Though, oddly enough, the image is showing up on my screen. I'll see about changing it anyway, though.

Season finale villain confirmed!

I kid, I kid. I've also avoided spoilers. Though for a lot of the episode I was sure she was going to be a) Starlight in disguise, trying to help in a roundabout way, or b) a Darla Dimple situation.

But my money's on her being Chrysalis doing a long con.

Huh. Maybe it's still cached in your browser or something?

Well, I replaced it anyway. How is it now?

Cozy Glow is the Pegasus Diamond Tiara. If they teamed up, all of Ponyville would be in their control in a matter of days, and all of Equestria within a month.

I agree, I believe it's her trying to find a way to get revenge. I think we'll be finding out this weekend, if I'm not mistaken it's the midseason break

That works for me, aye!

Just looking at her screams ‘evil’. I think the reason most people instinctively think she’s evil (I know I did) even without seeing her actions or cutie mark, is because of her eye colour. Red eyes. They say the eyes are the window to the soul, and whenever you talk to people you naturally look at their eyes, and having them be red, the colour of blood, sets off all of our evolutionary alarm bells.

Possibly. But before her eye reveal, a lot of people hypothesized that Vinyl Scratch had red eyes.

...of course, that's where the 'Vampire Vinyl' take on the character came from. :applejackunsure:
