Moth Plays Dark Cloud 2: Chapter 6, Episode 1: The Dark Designs of Emperor Griffon · 11:55pm May 31st, 2018

In which Max and Monica finally come face to face with their enemy, only to discover the terrible extent of his plans. (Starring Mark Hamill as the voice of Griffon!)

So we finally meet Emperor Griffon...and he's a bunny rabbit.

A bunny rabbit with a serious chip on his shoulder.

At least, until he steals the Atlamillia from Max and Monica and transforms into a terrifying winged demon voiced by Mark Hamill. Yikes.

Chapter Six consists entirely of fetching the Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire Gems from the locked paths (remember those?) in Rainbow Butterfly Wood, Starlight Canyon, Ocean's Roar Cave, and Mt. Gundor. There are three floors full of INCREDIBLY tough monsters for each dungeon, ending in a miniboss fight at the Altars. There is no Georama for this chapter, but there are some Geostones in the new floors--they mostly decode still-encoded conditions and provide a few minor culture items like the Pot Chimney and Leafy Tree.

This episode also introduces the most OBNOXIOUS glitch in the entire game. I don't know how this one got past debugging, but the enemy Mad Tore makes this annoying high-pitched whining sound which gets stuck until you fight a different type of enemy or exit the dungeon. There's a couple other enemies with "stuck sounds", but Mad Tore is the most obnoxious by far. I really wish they'd fixed these bugs in the PS4 port.

Can Max and Monica really unleash the power of Kazarov Stonehenge to bring Paznos into the present? Will the might of Paznos be strong enough to stop Griffon from wiping out humanity era by era? Can the Star of Destruction be stopped, or is mankind doomed to extinction?

Find out in the next episode!
