Winniverse Celestira, or should we say Tyrantlestia · 1:15am May 31st, 2018

Celestia of Winniverse. Started out as a well meaning ruler but ultimately becomes the tyrant the rebels claimed.

While I disagree with the rebels move to rebel as a powerplay. but Celstia's actions at the end of the war makes their claims true. Her complete dissovling of the Pegasi and Earth Pony governments with a minor change to the unicornian government puts her as the sole pony in control of Equrestria. Ditactorship anyone? While Equestria did well under her rule we still see the signs of this tyranny. Outside of town mayors do you we any sign of ponies having a voice in government? I certainly don't. Then there is throwing Shining under the bus when he was the least to blame for the wedding invasion. Now with Luna and Freeport. With out really listening to Luna's side of the story Celestia forces Luna to not only give up her adventure funds but her claim on a sword SHE made for a friend a friend who's ghost asked her to retrieve it. Yet she decides Sunset is COMPLETELY in the right and chose somepony over her sister again. Note BOTH Susnet and Luna made errors, but I hold Sunset more in error then Luna. How can Celestia limit a co ruler, somepony who is equal to her in power? Maybe because that is a lie and she is a tyrant and still holds overall power.

She may try to justify these reasons as others who read. but actually looking at her actions what do you see? I tyrant, a seemingly benovolent one but a tyrant none the less.

((For the record in my opinion; Luna is Best Princess, Sunset is best (former) student, Strumming is best smartass, Kukri is best bug, Trixie best unicorn, Derpy best pony))

With all that out of the way, I agree.

Now with Luna and Freeport.

To the point that I can understand why she turned into Nightmare Night. If Celestia is this bad, how was she back then? Hell, I'd root for NMM if she did it again. Celestia just comes off as being arrogant. And her students, it seems, can do no wrong. How many times in the show did Twilight do something stupid, with no real consequences? And Sunset seems to be in the same boat. She almost crippled Cadance sure by accident, but that really isnt the point.
She loses her temper, Celestia stops by for tea. Sends birthday presents.
When Luna gets mad, she's called on the carpet for it. WTF?

With out really listening to Luna's side of the story Celestia forces Luna to not only give up her adventure funds but her claim on a sword SHE made for a friend a friend who's ghost asked her to retrieve it. Yet she decides Sunset is COMPLETELY in the right and chose somepony over her sister again.

Also, she wants Luna to apologize to Sunset, but what about Cadance? When does she get an apology? If its ever happened, I must have missed that part/story. Or any of the guards Sunset hurt when she ran for it?
Or for turning someones brain into jelly. And *keeping* the spoils. Never got into any real trouble, never had to even say "gee sorry I tried to burn you", much less see the inside of a jail cell.

Then she had the nerve to bitch about Starlight avoiding jail time?
'Hello, Pot? This is Kettle, I just called to say fuck you, you arrogant bitch.'

Luna made some mistakes, but the Freeport crew made mistakes too, and acted like huge jerkoffs.
Luna should have just squashed the lot of them. Like an alicorn could. When/where did Sunset even get juiced up enough to drag the battle out that long? Even holding back, it shouldn't lasted more than a few seconds.

Having said all that, I *do* actually like the Freeport stories.

I slightly did agree on Cadance. But sunset did the smart thing to walk away to cool of before she say or do something she regret. Cadence screwed that up by going to. Honestly with a good idea but it was the wrong time to try and that last little barn was too much. Honestly I'm on Celestia for not going after Cadance.

For me Celestia never lanes from her mistakes or admit she makes one.

Because they are not equals, not in practice. Luna went bug-nuts and tried to destroy the world. Celestia’s mistake may very well be letting that anywhere near the throne. You keep an unstable element like that under a short leash.

As for Pegasopolis, they essentially tried to conquer Equestria, resurrect the bug-nuts version of Luna ( after stating their intention of freeing ponies from immortal rule) and were famously known for never surrendering, and proved it in the end. She had no choice but to destroy them.

So in essence she lied Luna and note she is far from perfect herself.

As for Pegasi. only one group was for NMM and took an opprotunity to have their way. We both know the Pegasi never surrendering is a myth and note Rightly was willing to surrender as long as the clans would remain. Celestia gave them no reason to surrender. and what of the Earth ponies. THere government is destroyed, not just by Swift Blade but by Celestia herself. Again the aftermath is basically Unicornia rulign all three tribes.

I posted on the comments but would love his view. He'll since I came to this conclusion Lance in my Lance of love is very different in how I initially planned it.

4919946
Hope so. Haven't been squeamish in saying my view

4919890
I do agree with the Earth Pony government going to be sad, but I feel nothing for the Pegasopolis one who were, for all their talk, essentially going to unite Equestria under their rule with everyone else as their puppets. I would like to hear more about what precisely happens to the earth ponies, they get so little attention they're almost an afterthought in the writing. It's always pegasi and unicorns.

As for Luna- well, whenever I write Luna, she's generally supportive of putting limits on herself but then again I write characters as being unsure of themselves and seeing the worst in themselves. MY Luna has to go behind Celestia's withers to see to it she's limited in some fashion. But that's hardly what's happening here.

I'd have to reread it, was there something about the House Of Lords or something pressuring Celestia to censure Luna so? I forget, how autocratic is the diarchy supposed to be exactly in modern times?

She may try to justify these reasons as others who read. but actually looking at her actions what do you see? I tyrant, a seemingly benovolent one but a tyrant none the less.

You say that like a benevolent tyrant is not by FAR and away the best form of government.

4920279
it isn't. Just look at what happens, She throws Shining under the bus for the invasion while looking at the facts he is the last to blame. and likely not the first or last time she has done such a thing.

4920360

Are you arguing she's just incompetent or a tyrant? That's two seperate arguments.

(She also can't be that incompetant, considering she's ruled for longer than many human nations have existed. PRECIOUS few things (the show, sometimes, when it doesn't have a bad), though, actually consider what that really means, of course. Princess Celestia Hates Tea, as I often cite, despite being a silly comedy, is probably the most realistic depiction of what the populace's reactions towards a benevolent monarch who has ruled far longer than living memory would be. Actually, some degree of ruthlessness would be required, really, to rule for that long.

Is WinngingVerse Celestia more or less competant than other Celestia? That might be a question. But let's also remember that any sembances of democracy are purely from the fanbase- the show has never show her to be anything less than an absolute authority.)

4920400
note judging solely this version of Celestia in this. But yes a Tyrant can be incompentant. Just look at Venezula.

She is incompentant for she keeps repeating mistakes. What ultimately caused the Rebellion? Celestia's incompentnace. She let her grief keep her isolated from the other tribes and projected a favortism on the Unicorns. And she didn't fix that when she decided to bring her Unicornia staff with her. As we saw in Manehattan you have ponies arguing because and Earth Pony was trying to do their job when a unicorn interfers because technically they have the same job. Then when the Pegasi reporting growing griffon bandit attacks and that they spotted three different camps in griffon territory Celestia does nothing citing a treaty that could be in the process of being violated and later proved the griffons were violating the treaty. her censor of them was stupid and further damage her relation with them. Finally the mishandlign of the clippign investigation which lead to two ponies deaths after their deaths she should have realized she lost support of this by anybody. Hell even before this Shadow her msot stuach supporter was against this and the deaths did not help. She should have relaized she had to give up the investigation it had yeilded nothing and antagonized the pegasi. yet she wanted to keep persuing it and we know the results. She inheritently has a problem reading ponies and situations. She can see their potenial but but never read that there is an issue and doesn't address it. Move forward to Sunset. She completely failed to see how important she was to Sunset until Cadance is hurt for pushing Sunset too hard. Cadance is ultiamtely responsible for the burns she got. Sunset left to try to cool off before doing or saying somethign she regret. Cadance came in with a good idea to try to work with Sunset but her timing was off and when it was clear she was making it worst she launched that last quip and got burned for it.

Then we go to the wedding which the one time i make a comparison to canon version because THIS version had even more warning and still failed. Just months before the wedding a high ranking guard is replaced by a changeling wether free mind or not someone is hiring changelings against her government and at a heightened state she doesn't see the attitude change in Cadacne and completely ignored Twilight's warnings and she almost lost her kingdom and after words just she take responsiblility for it? No she throws Shining under the bus when if you look after everything he is the last to blame.

Final part before rebellion we have three government groups that puts checks on her. and as the rebellion happened she clearly had roughly 50% of the earth ponies still for her. But didn't matter. in the end only the unicornian government remains in any form and she has no check on her power.

I'm gonna go finish "Lunar Rebellion" before I comment, but looking forward to discuss with you.

I do wonder if there was a change in how much power she had when she went from "Queen" to "Princess".

5101302
Had more. The chancellorship and the Commander in chief are gone and their checks with them. The change to Princess is just a fake attempt to make it look less but in the end Unicornia dominates with slight alterations to the nobility

4925373
Done yet? Look forward to discussions

5101344
I'm pretty sure in the stories sent in the past, she's still referred to as "Queen", iirc. Which tells me that the the change to "Princess" hasn't happened yet and suggest it may actually have to do with a real change in power.

5101533
Yet we don't see it in Twilight's time

5101350
Wow, you have an awesome memory. I am really sorry I missed that, it's been a stressful year.

Yeah, I finished it and all I could write was, well "Wow". It was like one of the most heartwrenching and epic things I have read.

5101691
Another guy commented on the blog and I noticed yours. And yes chengar is a good story teller

5101698
Yeah, I feel a bit bad for just leaving the community for nearly a year. But glad I'm welcome back.

He really is, Ponibus, Komma and the rest of them too, of course.

Makes me wonder why I haven't seen his stuff on the bestseller lists, it's way better than most of the books I find there.

I might have to actually brush up on the story to be able to discuss it. That'll have to be tomorrow though. I need to get to work in 5 hours and need my beauty sleep.
See ya.

5101751
I will say that, surprisingly, the scenes I loved the lost in the whole story were the private moments between Shadow amd her daughter.
