Moth Plays Dark Cloud 2: Chapter 3, Episode 6: Full Spheda Ahead! · 10:41pm May 20th, 2018

In which Max takes a break from saving the world to get in some golf, Monica gets a sweet new sword, and Lin farts a big flabby monster out of her head.

Spheda...has kind of an inverse difficulty thing going on with it.

You'd expect the golfing minigame to be easy in the early dungeons and unforgivingly hard in the later dungeons. You'd expect that...but you'd be wrong.

The absolute hardest dungeon to win at Spheda in is the game's very first dungeon, Underground Water Channel. The ceilings are low so you have to go for low-angle shots. There are pipes in the ceiling that can and will deflect or even TRAP your shot. And then there are the water hazards. Which are in almost every single corridor and passage. The narrow water channels lining every walkway in the sewers? Yeah, the sphere can and will go into them and it counts as an out of bounds.

That doesn't even cover situations where the sphere spawns clear across the dungeon from the hole and you have anywhere from five to eight shots to navigate a maze of hallways, full of water hazards and low-hanging pipes, to get the damn thing anywhere NEAR the hole.

Sindain's Rainbow Butterfly Woods is a far more forgiving Spheda course, but not by much--the ball can still get lost in the inaccessible "rough" between paths, trees can deflect shots, and so forth. Then there's Starlight Canyon, which, well...it's a canyon with narrow ledges. You have to be REALLY careful.

Aside from all the golf I play in this episode, I also deal with a brief mid-boss interlude, and show off one of the game's quirky little secrets...as well as one of Monica's most badass weapons.

The lighthouse is in sight. Can the heroes really save Crest, or can some things never be changed?

Find out in the next episode!

Moth, is that what your voice legit sounds like?

No, I'm using a voice changer to sound that awful for your amusement No, I hired someone's country grandma as a voice stand-in No, you're imagining it to sound like that because you're weird Other sarcastic response to a stupid and borderline insensitive question

4865359
I'm sorry, I was surprised to hear your voice

4865364
I get that a lot.

I also get confused for my own wife (which I don't have) over the phone, called "ma'am" on the phone and over drive-thrus... *sigh*

It's a bit of a sore subject.

At least one of the semi-good things about playing Spheda in the Channel early is that you don't make the mistake of trying to use a higher tier club. I was always partial to using a Falcon but neither it nor a Flamingo are great for the Channel (and I was never quite good enough to use an Albatross anywhere). Personally I found a Turkey to be best for the Channel but I can understand the use of a Swan instead.

You sound so much younger than I expected you would when I first watched one of your videos.
But, yes, he could have phrased that question a whole lot better.

4865372
My voice never changed, that's why. I'm 40 and my voice never changed.

...I'm sad now.

4865368
Yeah, I kind of expected you to sound like, I don't know, Jerry Seinfeld for some reason.

4865380
Oh come on Myth, having a high pitched voice ain't that bad

4865380
Sorry I made you sad. Nothing wrong with having a higher pitched voice though.

I was back seat Sphedaing so hard watching this. We have two very different style of playing that mini-game.

Clearly you wouldn't name a sword "Pussy Sword", it would be "Pussy Slayer". Also didn't take you for a cheating cheater who cheats. You cheat. </sarcasm>

The line "First time I've ever seen it though. Wow! I didn't think it would be this big." could see a lot of use in, ahem, certain types of fanfiction.

That moment when you had blue-next-to-blue and didn't see I was waiting for the shoe to drop. Your reaction did not disappoint. This is that feeling I was talking about last time. And that miss. That was painful to watch because I've been there and done that myself so I know just how bad that feels when it happens.
Why don't you automatically move Max to the sphere when you clear the floor? (Saw it happen twice.)
That last hole. Just, that last hole...

Why don't you automatically move Max to the sphere when you clear the floor? (Saw it happen twice.)

Because I wouldn't get the Abs/Gilda from the last enemy I killed if I did? Seems a waste. (Maybe you DO and I don't know, I'm not sure. I got in the habit and just kind of...didn't get out of the habit.)

4865510
I am rather sure you pick that up while the first confirmation box is open. As long as you are standing near where it fell that is, as in not having killed the last thing with a ranged attack.

It is easy enough to test with a rather small cost if it does mean you don't get the drops. Just check your Gilda before the final kill and again right after the move. Or even just leaving the first box open longer and seeing if the collection animation happens.

I just know I used that "move Max to ball" option a lot and never had any money issues.

You probably just never noticed not picking it up. I think one time I was relying on the last kill to level up a weapon or something.
