Moth Plays Dark Cloud 2: Chapter 2, Episode 1: Monica and the Spirit Forest · 2:00pm May 13th, 2018

In which our young heroes brave the spooky, dangerous, monster-infested Rainbow Butterfly Woods in search of the wayward Firbits.

It's always, always, ALWAYS a good idea to spend time grinding up your weapons in the previous dungeon before you head into the next dungeon, because if you don't, the next dungeon will eat you alive.

Kind of like what happened here, because I forgot Dark Cloud Survival 101's most basic lesson. :facehoof: Seriously, the only reason I managed to do what I did here is because I'm so familiar with this game I was able to muddle through with underleveled weapons.

Anyway, this video covers the first three floor episodes of Rainbow Butterfly Woods. The training wheels are officially OFF. The first dungeon's enemies were slow, weak, and posed very little threat.

THIS dungeon? Throws massive hordes of exceptionally dangerous enemies at you on every floor.

Just in the first three floors, you run into Undead Skeleton Soldiers, who are fast-moving, have swords and shields, and occasionally don't die, grass monsters that spit poison at you, wind-up pumpkin soldiers with pikes who throw bombs at you, GIANT PISSED OFF TREE MONSTERS, vicious attack moles who come up out of the ground, and more. The Rainbow Butterfly Woods will eat you alive if you're not careful.

What will our heroes find in the dark heart of the enchanted forest?

Find out in the next episode!

I find that, once you've done the grinding game a few times, it's more fun to get by with as little of that as possible. That's for single player games though. Multiplayer grind is just another way to compete, I think.

In Dark Cloud 2, grinding becomes incidental to farming money/materials at around the midpoint of Sindain, because you'll be going back into the dungeon repeatedly to gather raw resources for building the Georama so you can actually advance the plot.

Yeeeahsorry. Every time I play Dark Chronicle its the grind for materials that always trips me up.

"I have to go find this enemy here and hope it drops or find this chest in this level and hope it drops or when can I just buy it off the train!

Eh, it's a pain in the ass in Sindain and Balance Valley, but by Veniccio you should have a Wealth Coin on at least one weapon, plus a support partner who increases money drops--basically once you hit Veniccio you should be able to money-machine your dungeon runs so hard you can stockpile Gold Bars and never have a cash flow problem again.
