I bit off WAAAAAYYYYY more than I could chew · 11:48pm Apr 18th, 2018
I already made a post about this on my Patreon, but I've come to terms with the fact that I underestimated how stressful writing out individual fic commissions would be. I wrote out three separate stories this month (including one that'll be released tomorrow morning), as well as that winning poll story at the start of the month. And because of all of that, I haven't found the time to make a single story of my own that I wanted to do myself; nor have I been able to write out any bigger commissions that would be more benefitial for me.
And at the end, offering $20 tiers for stories worth way more than that just turned out to be way too much for me to handle. I've been giving out too much for too little, and it's been driving me down to the bone. My boyfriend told me multiple times that I needed to change my tier standards, and I'm finally taking him up on it for the sake of my sanity. I'm altering my tier benefits on Patreon, but I really hope it won't keep people from giving me support as I try to achieve more as a writer.
Speaking of which,I also decided to up the price of my commissions by $2. Regular stories will now be $9 per thousand words, and stories that involve more controversial themes (decided upon review) will start at $12 per thousand words or more.
While I don't have a Patreon, (and frankly, I don't think I ever will) I do know the importance of setting limits for your audience to tell them how much time you should put between writing a story you're being paid to do, and writing a story you want to do.
Praise to your bf!
we (your fans/readers) don't ya burn out now. you plenty of stories to tell in crazy brain of yours;)
It might be a better idea to just have the Patreon as a tip jar more than anything else.

What do you mean by that? Stories ideas that are on your blacklist?

Well, considering what I used to consider Hard-No's when I started doing commissioned work over a year ago, and the kinds of stories I've done recently, I... figured I could put up higher prices for commissions I could take as exceptions.
