A good story isn't measured by how long it is, but by how long it stays with you.

Some Compati Changes · 7:15pm Mar 23rd, 2018

Hey, guys!

A bunch of stuff to go over regarding Compati below the break (and this adorable picture of Sunset:)

TL;DR:
-Chapter rearrangement for improved start-up reading
-No re-reading required
-Another minor chapter rearrangement to be made next week on chapter V's release

So, I just released a new chapter of Compati for you all, but I have to note for you a few changes I decided to make. When I initially published the first chapter of this story, I lead off with the "Past Sunset" chapter, as I was under the impression that it would have the most widely accepted hook of the perspectives I had planned on using. And yeah, it's cutesy and is an admittedly solid chapter, but as one of the commenters indicated—and as I had plenty of my own reservations on which chapter to lead with—it simply isn't the proper launchpad for this story.

Sure, that story arc will get to the deliciously dark stuff you all know and love my writing for, but the synopsis says [Dark] and I should properly indicate that through the tone of the story from the get-go. So that brings us to the changes. First, there is no re-reading required. The only new material is the Wise Words from a Wise Friend chapter. Second, you'll notice the chapter rearrangement:

As you can see, I've changed The Journal to be the prologue chapter that it was in the original abridged and followed it up with the second Luna chapter to solidify the first few steps toward the central conflict described in the synopsis. This new chapter I have placed as chapter 4 for now, but in a week's time it will become chapter 3 (and 3 become 4). This, I felt, was the best option for both those reading serially (so they won't be confused by out-of-order new chapters) and for those that have not yet read the story (the perspective back-and-forth allows for better momentum of both stories going forward). Ultimately, it will look like this:

Again, those that were caught up on this story as of this week do not need to reread anything before Wise Words, as only the chapter order has changed. Hopefully this clears some things up and provides those to come with a more enjoyable reading experience (and one particular commenter a moment of supreme chuffness).
