Albums I'm Listening To This Month [March 2018]
March comes in like a lion, again. S3 when?
So, real life is once again taking away a lot of my free time from my usual writing flair. Starting up a musical all on your own with a couple of friends isn't exactly weight-off-my-shoulders work, but there's a lot of progress made on that end, which is always great to have. Nevertheless, this month, and the months thereafter (up until July, I believe) will have my writing hours shortened drastically. Not to mention that my brain usually fizzes out by the end of each meetup, so it's kinda hard to get the proper words out the way I want them to.
But I digress, because that's part of the diet plan I'm on. On with the updates!
Panthalassa
Bits and pieces everywhere! This story's slowly getting there, though every time I opened it up, I'm always nitpicking out some of the stuff that I thought sounded alright last time.
I'm basically still making up and ironing out some new philosophies and science and stuff. Kinda hard to make up new quotes to cite. I think what's more pressing now is that I still don't exactly have what I could only describe as a thematic denouement. You know, that little extra finish that caps off everything being explored in this story. Can't really find a proper way to have them come all together yet, but I think I'm almost there.
Also, I went ahead and removed the wall of trigger warnings, partially to keep the turn of events a surprise, but mostly because I don't think a mere trigger warning could accurately capture the essence of the acts in question. It's suppose to be disgusting, yes, but in the perspective of our MC, there's a sense of beauty to it. Or nostalgia. Or something. Don't know what that feeling actually is, but a balanced contrast is what I'm shooting for.
Anywho, here's a paragraph from what's to become Ch. 2!
With the help of the archivist, I quickly compiled a great amount of works that pertain to the origins of the ocean, many of which are inherently philosophical and have been written by the great thinkers of yore hailing from the earliest days of Princess Celestia’s reign. Despite being unfounded and, for the rare few of them, in contradiction with our current science, I have to admit they offered a rather interesting and valuable insight apropos of the great blue, with most of them theorizing on what could only be insinuated as the existence of a thalassic deity. Though I surmised that such a theory was crafted only for want of an easy, convenient explanation, I could not help but feel that there may be a certain truth behind them; we clearly have the princesses presiding over their respective celestial bodies, after all. Having a deity overseeing the ocean would certainly fit into the Equestrian concept of the universe in theory. On the contrary, there seems to be the lack of a coinciding numina for the earth we trod upon and the skies above our heads, among many other things. The Princess of Friendship suggested that decades and decades of equine activity may be responsible for shaping the geography around us, and thus concluded it should extend to their origins as well, though despite my admiration of her, I don’t think the answer as to how our landscapes are formed is as simple as Equestrian supremacy.
Cold writing is ice-cold.
Of course, I'm also working on the other stories with what little time I could spare, with Feyspeak taking top priority among them. followed by Worlds. The latter in particular is way past the deadline I've set for it to finally come out, though it's slowly getting there, sentence by sentence.
Also, I feel like The Drifting Chariot, my most recent story which I've submitted to Everfree NW, could've used a bit more tweaking. Give it a greater sense of cohesion and add a bit more life to the final dialogue. Scrolling through it while half-awake really was a bad idea, but oh well, what's done is done. Hopefully it didn't turn out too bad in the end.
Anyways, that's it from me! WritingSpirit, signing out!
