If you remember from the first chapter, that oily goop Starlight flew over as opposed to walking through was actually the Smooze. She thinks she sees it twitch at one point, before returning to stillness.

I've not seen it to be honest, only the scenes with the Witches (that song between Reeka and Draggle is fun). As you can see, they're quite... quite different in The Broken Bond.
So you managed to turn these cookey, dorky crazy ladies with weird hair into eldritch abominations above and beyond even Discord. Huh, yep...not bad at all. I have to applaud you on that one.

Yeah, he'll actually make an appearance and yes he will be torn a new one. Starlight just has a lot of crap to go through first, especially given what happened in the latest chapter. Hehehe. If she faced him right now she would literally turn him into a pile of goop... which would be cathartic but would land her in a dungeon for a millennium or two.

If you're referring to the Smooze moving in reaction to Starlight's presence, then you're right. It's been thousands and thousands of years without even needing to move. The sudden appearance of a living organism, a pony no less, rouses it from its hibernation.

There's a fantastic review of this movie that points out the Smooze is basically a Grey Goo, and in many ways the most powerful and terrifying enemy ever shown in the MLP series. Of course, now Thorax and his buddies could just Utter-Flutter it...
