IN WHICH I BEAT MY DEADLINE
After a complete restart and enough coffee to kill an elephant, I have provisionally completed my annual Mayor Mare story! It's on the site, ready for final editing before I post it on Saturday. I'll have more to say then, of course. In the meantime…
Like most of America, we just got through a nasty cold-snap here in the Ozarks. I'd been wanting to write, but I've been sleeping instead. Not sure if it's my pillz or my mood or the cold or what. But I had to finish that Mayor story by the 20th. It's the only time I ever impose a true deadline on myself and stick to it -- other than last Halloween's one-shot Rarity horror. That was fun.
Anyway, you might have noticed that my number of published stories has decreased by one. That's because I pulled Antonovka, as it sat incomplete and unloved, an albatross around my neck for two years. Well, aside from needing to rewrite the first chapter (which was published) to bring it in line with the other 28,000 words of story I wrote, and adding a crucial piece of dialogue that I forgot because the story didn't want to go that way -- even though that particular dialogue IS THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE STORY -- I'm basically done with it and am only debating whether to publish its seven chapters all at once or one-at-a-time.
Also, MythrilMoth was -- once again -- right, as he usually is whenever he tells me anything. Updating the tags on my stories to fit the new site restrictions took me all of ten minutes, if that. He also gave me some valuable advice and connections that will allow me to write Fiddlesticks's dialogue for Octavia's Burritoverse story. I hope I can get to that soon. So much on my plate and I'm crap at multitasking.
After I make my latest Mayor story public and bask in the glow of no one reading it -- almost no one read ACO, which made me very disappoint -- I'll get back to work on what y'all, my readers and followers, want to see: more Sunset Shimmer. It's actually been a while since I've written for her, as I've been working on other characters, but with luck I'll make it back into the groove quickly.
After that, IF CoffeeMinion hasn't finished looking over the last two "Recovery" stories, I'm going to do another CMC story. Its title will be "CUTIEMETAL".
