Spoilers, brah. Though I basically only have one thing to say.
So much of the movie was a masterpiece, but it is not good space opera when things would have gone objectively better had half the protagonists stayed home.
Ha, that's about right! The Imperials could have been a bit smarter too. That first scene was... a little unfortunate. Still a good movie though.
Just now got home from seeing it. Great movie, but it did fall flat in places. A lot of the drama on the last Rebel cruiser could have been avoided if they had just talked about their plans between each other.
It was pretty good. Played things far less safe than TFA did, which I appreciate.

Agreed. Miscommunication as a primary plot device is sorta annoying.

It's not just miscommunication, it's willfully bad communication. That the admiral had a plan to get out of their supremely hopeless position and couldn't be ass-bothered to tell the desperate crew is an idiotic twist in a plot that already had enough unpredictability to be interesting.

Hey. The plot of every Stephen King novel advances through bad communication, and it's worked out pretty well for him.

My feelings on your opinions are quite strong. I respectfully disagree.
