net neutrality · 6:21am Dec 13th, 2017
this Thursday we may very well lose the internet. to all my readers, followers and fans. this may very well mean goodbye. tonight I'm saving the mystic cipher into a text document in case we lose it and get it back with our next president. my others didn't have much to them really so they will likely be lost, but not this one. it's been fun everyone, but come this time next week, fimfiction may very well just be a memory.
Here is to hope
Hopefully the site will come back when net neutrality is restored in the future (if it get's restored), otherwise, I just don't know what will happen.
I believe congress will make the right call. Thousands of people have spoken up in defense of Net Neutrality. I'd like to believe we aren't completely fucked as a species. Heres hoping my faith isn't misplaced.
Even if they do repeal it, it'll still take the internet providers some time to change things.
And that's assuming that the final verdict doesn't get caught up in legal red-tape for months due to people countering the decision in court.
i hope we all can enjoy this site once more after this is all over it will suck balls without this site but i have enough books downloaded for the next 7 years on my desktop.
While it is unfortunate that Net Neutrality was repealed, it isn't the end of the world. The new laws(or lack thereof) won't take effect until next year, and from readings and research I've been looking into, the issue of Net Neutrality will almost certainly be brought to court. Ignoring that, should Net Neutrality be completely done away with, it likely won't affect fanfiction sites in any noticeable way. Despite the controversy caused Net Neutrality's repeal, it wasn't until 2015 that we even had laws governing Net Neutrality. All the repeal has done is returned the internet to the way it was two short years ago......which isn't so bad. I can't speak for everyone, but I can't actually think of any difference in the internet between then and now that's affected me personally. Youtube and Fanfiction worked then, and they'll likely work tomorrow and the days following along with nearly every other site on the web.
