I watched the finale · 11:03pm Oct 28th, 2017
and I haven't stopped geeking out. Best finale. No complaints. No cynicism. No "yeah, buts." The show is great and I'm happy to be a part of it. Hope springs eternal. GlimGlam was finally used well. Everyone got a chance to shine. Life is beautiful and so are you.
I have a cat named Harshwhinny on my lap purring, that's pretty sweet too.
Only problem is
You get the fuck away from Rarity's booty.
Rarity's?
In my opinion, Shadow Play and Uncommon Bond got me excited about MLP again, which was much appreciated after the movie admittedly left a bitter taste in my mouth. That's something I'd rather not discuss too much for obvious reasons.
Anyway, I loved the S7 finale and enjoyed every minute. The pillars were all great additions, and Stygian made for an interesting antagonist. Everyone had a role to play in the episode, and the pacing felt natural. Honestly, Shadow Play is likely my favorite two-part episode in the entire series.
4710730 Yeah, that's my reaction, too.
RairJack is actually my LEAST liked shop out of any of the ones between the Mane 6.

It belongs to Rarity.
More specifically, every single pitfall for season enders or the show in general was dodged like a champ. Things I love that immediately come to mind:
-Everyone got a chance to shine. It wasn't "Starlight/Twilight saves the day."
-Worldbuilding to the nines, hearkening all the way back to the elements themselves!
-Actual legit reason the princesses weren't involved (unaware).
-More Sunburst, in a fitting role.
-Sommy's accent was so cute.
-No OOC BS. Twilight never fully came around to "Yeah, we should
killbanish our enemies," and her friends didn't sit still when she took a tongue-lashing.-Probably best and most surprising at all was Starlight Glimmer, giving her first appearance in a role actually distinct from Twilight and Spike. Her status as ex-villain gave her a needed perspective she kept offering to Twilight, offering just enough foil that Twilight was willing to make that jump into shadow against her idol's plans. She was living proof Star Swirl was wrong, and no one else would have fit exactly in that role.
-Almost as good, I can't fault the elements for being hardass
killersbanishers. They lived in a smaller, more dangerous Equestria with no Elements or even adult alicorns to turn to for help. Their ethos was probably right for the time in which they lived, and it's to their credit they seem willing to adapt. And hey, Stygian did steal their stuff... and they did sacrifice themselves to seal him away. Dudes did not duck around with defending Equestria back in the day.I honestly think that Somnambula is singlehandedly the best thing to come out of Season 7.

I sort of wonder why she's the most popular of the legends by a landslide. Her story wasn't particularly meaningful or compelling compared to the others... for me, I'm just a huge sucker for cuties with accents (liked Mistmane's story the most, though).
So, hear me out: DaringDashNambula.

Worldbuilding potential I think, mainly. An area/timeperiod of Equestria with an Egyptian influence is something we haven't seen done before, so seeing a folklore hero from that time period has a good deal of resonance—for some reason, people seem to freaking love writing about ancient Egypt.
Additional points go to her design, which is immediately distinctive from many other sidecharacter ponies.
Just my guess, anyways. More likely, it's the cool accent, I dunno.
You're asking someone who only really watches pony cause, fuck, isn't it cute and colourful?4710762 Good points, all.
But to each their own, no?
Me, I ship AJ with (canon-wise) either Twilight or Dash.
(Yeah, super-cliche, I know.)
Non-canon-wise, I ship her with my OC, Wolf.
4710812 Well, that's cool.
And very well put.
Like I said, to each their own.
You forgot one of the most important aspects of this two-parter: Equestria Girls is confirmed as show canon, baby! What now, haters? It makes me hopeful for a Sunset Shimmer appearance in the regular show.
Unless they're willfully avoiding all spoilers, most fans know Season 8's already been confirmed. Speculations?
