With Daniel Ingram working on the movie for much of the past year, Season 7 was an understandable drought of songs; we only got five. But among them was the best romantic song they could have done for this couple.

She had been a fandom character for years, and now, at last, a canon version was revealed. Needless to say, my mouth was agape.

Pinkie in 'Secrets and Pies'
Approximately 66.6% of my enjoyment of this episode was all the expressions Pinkie was making. A worthy successor to Party of One, to be sure.
(Runner-up: Starlight Glimmer in general. She has the best bullshit detector in the entire show.)

And seriously, you'll never be able to convince me that the CMC didn't help Feather Bangs start a foursome there at the end.
I agree with most of this, though I am glad Mac finally got some canon action (he and Cheerilee wasn't exactly natural love).

Dump the local earth pony for a unicorn who looks exactly like her except for the horn.
The one with Maud and Boulder... Maud has admitted to liking comedy, and on top of her jokes, I think she enjoys using Boulder in prop comedy. I have noticed three times Maud has preformed sight gags with Boulder, there may be more, but I remember three. First was when Boulder ate the sandwich in Maud's debut episode in season four. Then earlier this season, Maud had Boulder dressed as a lumberjack, posed as if he had been chopping wood. Then, of course, Mirror Pool Boulder.

"Dump the local teacher" aka "My head canon was ruined." Reminder that CheeriMac has zero support in actual canon. When not under the influence of the love poison, both of them laughed at the idea. Cheerilee was anything but "dumped."

The distance is why I don't ship SugarMac, I just don't think either of them are looking to commit to a long distance relationship and they seem too rooted in their home towns to even consider moving for the sake of love.

Starlight Glimmer's filly form is obviously by far the most UBER CUTE filly design because of one thing: her pigtails! X3
