The Dastardly Duo (also a quick check-in)

Recently, I realized that I needed to get some art for the less noble side of Set Sail. Our main villain has existed for years now as nothing more than words on a page and ideas in my head, but now we've got photographic evidence that he exists!

I made my account here exactly 10 years ago today. A whole decade of occasionally posting words about silly little talking horses and birds. I wish I had something planned but this kinda just snuck up on me. All I have is my thoughts, and I've only got one of those right now.

    I'm getting old.

Thanks to my friends deciding to spam me a few months ago, I have a decent title for this blog! You guys are the best. Worst. Burst?

Anyhoo, let's talk about something that hasn't been in a good long while. That would be none other than my flagship story herself, Learning Curve.

It's amazing how fast time flies.

The last time I updated that story, I made an effort to push out a chapter in time for the anniversary of me joining the site: November 27th. It was kind of a rush job, and it required some rewriting after I realized the hole I'd dug myself into. Since then, well...

I pretty much shelved it for the last year. I decided to take a short break from pony early this year, got busy with school, got a fairly demanding job as soon as school let out for summer, and then The Perfect Pear happened. I was actually starting to lay some groundwork on the next installment when inspiration bit me very hard, which resulted in Without Another Word. And so, in the meantime, Chapter 13 has been sitting there on the backburner, gathering digital dust.

Other than recapping some pretty boring things about why it's been nearly a year since I updated the story, I wanted to look towards the future of Learning Curve. For those of you who read it, we left off in Chapter 12 at a bit of a low point after the end of the first major story arc. Cheerilee has just been hit with some defeating news, and her ideal vision of helping all of her students shine brightly is proving not so straightforward.

So, where do we go from here? They say that at your low point, the only way to go is up. Well, that's exactly what we're doing! The second half of the story is about to commence, and we're about to see if Cheerilee will persevere even in the face of adversity. Can she do it?

That question will be answered soon, I promise, but as for a date, I have no concrete deadline. There's always the elephant in the room of schoolwork and real-life responsibilities, plus there's another story in the works that I'll talk about more down the line as it becomes more of a reality. While I don't know exactly when I'll be done, I will say this:

November 27th sounds pretty nice. :raritywink:

I should really post more blogs about things, so maybe I'll make a point of doing that in the future. I need to interact with you guys more. So with that, I'm closing this blog off with the usual seal: A good picture of Cheerilee. Have a great day, everyone!

Yeah, the untold story of how me and Jack got 4k words into a collab and then he dumped me like a pregnant teenager for the perfect pear story.
