Conquering fear · 3:24am Sep 24th, 2017
So, I think it's only natural to be a bit iffy on touching things sometimes. You get the feeling that adding a cherry to the sundae you built is a bad choice. Maybe its rotten, maybe someone has a crippling disgust of cherries. Maybe their immune system is total shit and for some reason that cherry is the metaphorical straw that breaks the camel's back and BAM, suddenly your ice cream parlor is in ruin because you forgot to make them sign a disclaimer when they walked into your damn store to get some damn ice cream.
Which brings me directly to my point.
I wrote The Laughing Shadow over 3 years ago and a lot has changed in my life. I've moved, I've made new friends, changes in attitude, changes in latitude. But one thing hasn't changed. I've always wanted to do a sequel to The Laughing Shadow. But my fear of this cherry has stopped me from attempting to do something that I felt like might tarnish the, well, legacy makes me sound like a pretentious faggot, so I'll not say that, but I will say from a personal matter, I don't like ruining a good thing. Breaking a job well done is awful, IE, every season of Walking Dead after the 1st, and I didn't want to repeat that action.
But I think my fear of fucking things up has stagnated things too. I've been sitting on the sequel to the thing for months now, editing, reediting, and, honestly, putting it to the side for fear that it'd be worthless compared to the first one. Well, fuck it. Let's get this shit posted. Its first chapter is going up tomorrow. If it's bad it's bad, if people end up liking it, great. At least I'll have bit the bullet instead of just dicked around even more. Wish me luck, boys, we're going in.
Edit: Also, be sure to check out the review I received for The Laughing Shadow by Mist. Take a look here
Double Edit: So, in order to maximize viewership, we're doing this shit tomorrow at 3 CST. Be there and be square with me, boys and girls.
Well, aĺlow me then, to say: wonderful!
Your story The Laughing Shadow had such a huge impact on me and my writing. I will be looking forward to the squeal and expect to see some comments from me on future chapters!
Yay!! This makes me super excited! I have faith that it shall be a wonderful story and I cannot wait to start reading it! :3
Side note: Mist is my spouse. I recommended the story to then and was glad they enjoyed it as I did! :)
yay! i remember reading the first one and making a comment about seeing applejack from this world and the one from apple scratch going toe to toe more or less then getting embarrassed when both writers put me on the spot
all i'm getting from this is that merc is fearful of making sundaes so powerful that they will leave people in ruin
i wanna eat that sundae! You were the cherry on top the whole time, dawg
