    Leaving Tracks: Nine Years

I'm a few days late. Happy ninth anniversary to "Inner Strength", and to the rebirth of my passion as an author.

Bout time for an update, eh?

Not a big enough update to qualify for Rabbit Tracks, but this is just to say: Work is continueing on "Just a Pony", albeit slowly. Two more chapters down, then I got sidetracked by videogames, now I'm sidetracked by homework and sickness, and then hopefully back to "Just a Pony" soon!

    Irony

I tried to write a blog about how I haven't been able to write. I accidentally hit ctrl+r and refreshed the page, losing everything I had written. A cruel bit of irony. I am tired and angry with myself and scared for my future as a writer and I do not have the energy to retype it, so pretend there is some sincere and heartfelt explanation here and you're moved by the struggles of some weird

Pictures should be fixed across all stories

At this point if anyone is seeing broken images in my fics on Fimfiction please let me know! For anyone looking for a new image hosting site with Discord having done the Big Suck, I used Postimages and it was rather simple and efficient.

    Image hosting

Real quick, I know my images are all borked again; what are folks using for image hosting these days? Needs to be free and the less likely it is to implode the better... I was using Discord until just recently which is why this mess happened lmao

Post-Noodleverse plans · 11:23am Sep 20th, 2017

Since Heart of the Forest only has one more chapter, I figured I’d make a blog post to answer the “What next?” questions beforehand. But before I get into that, shameless self-promotion :yay:

Actually though, I’ll be honest that this isn’t promoting something I care about as much. I finally did the thing and made an anthology story, where every “chapter” is a self-contained mini-fic that isn’t quite oneshot worthy. It’s basically the same thing you’ve seen dozens of other authors put out. It’s called Rabbit Tracks and it’s mostly fluffy shipping stuff, if anyone’s interested in that sort of thing.

With that out of the way, what comes next? Two answers to that. My plans for the immediate future are to release another new story, the three chapter long In Quiet Moments, which is a story that I’ve mentioned but haven’t really elaborated much on. It’s about Nurse Redheart and Fluttershy, with the main theme being coping with anxiety. Because I am who I am, it’s a slice of life romance (I dub the ship “Shyheart”, incidentally). I’ve been hoping to release the first chapter on the Monday after Heart of the Forest’s completion (so October 2nd), but I’m not confident in where the story’s at right now to make that claim. But if not October 2nd, then I’d say October 9th for sure. From there, it’ll follow my usual fashion of having a new chapter every Monday until completion. After that, my focus will shift back to finishing Looking Glass.

And regarding what’s next for the Noodleverse, I do want to keep writing in that world. I had a vague idea for doing a separate story for all of the mane six, and I already have stories in mind for a few of them (and at least a few details in mind for the others). But upon finishing Heart of the Forest, I realized I’ll have to rethink my plans a bit to figure out how to go about writing six stories that have the same general goal without making them all follow the same formula. I still want to do it, but I don’t know when I’ll get to it. Not to mention this year has absolutely sucked for my Who We Become productivity; I fully expected to write two WWB novels before the year was out, and here I am only 75% of the way through with Looking Glass.

Another thing that’s liable to slow down my return to Noodleverse stuff is that I’m really kinda tired of being poor, so I’m thinking of trying my hand at writing original fiction after Looking Glass is finished. I’m well aware that writing isn’t really a reliable source of income, but writing original fiction is infinitely more likely to form some kind of career than fanfiction is. Plus it’s, like, the only thing I’m good at, so I’m absolutely going to try my best to make a career out of this somehow.

I suppose I should clarify that I’m not leaving fanfiction even if I go for original fiction (hell, even if I’m oddly successful at it). I genuinely only want to write ponies; I’ll still put my all into original fiction, but once I’m somewhat stable in finances, I’m absolutely hoping to float off that while writing about queer horses. At worst, I’ll have to alternate between my job of writing original fiction (a job I’m sure I’ll love, but a job nonetheless) and my true passion of my Who We Become stories. But this is all hypothetical for now, and won’t take effect until after Looking Glass is complete anyway.

The question I think everyone wants to know is when Looking Glass is coming back. And, as you can probably guess by my uncertainty with when I’m launching In Quiet Moments, I don’t know :twilightblush: The earliest would be if I get IQM out on the 2nd then can manage to get LG out the week after that has its final chapter, which would be October 23rd, but I would call this exceedingly unlikely. Once IQM is almost over, I’ll make another of these blog posts to status update y’all on LG, and I should hopefully have a solid date then. In any event, I expect the final chapter will be posted before the year’s out :raritywink:

I'm sure you can tie Dash's and Pinkie's self-discovery together. Maybe have Discord help with Flutters and Twi and Rarity to find some common adventure. Ofc, have AJ go with Flutters or one of the others to meet and greet or find some way to tie them together without being too on the nose. Just some thoughts. No need to heed them.

I really enjoyed this one more than I thought at the beginning.

I hadn’t thought of combining them like that. That could be a good way to avoid getting too samey with the stories, and is definitely something I’ll be keeping in mind when planning them :scootangel:

Glad to hear that the story wound up winning you over along the way :ajsmug:

First and foremost, the best of lucks writing original stuff! :yay: You are one very good writer, with quality that will definitely make you a professional in no time. :raritywink:

Thank you for explaining your plans. Let me be honest right now, I am a very picky reader, for several reasons. I may not read your next story, because the theme doesn't interest me, but good luck, I'm sure it will be good.

Can't wait for more Looking Glass, and then finally read more WWB stories.

Thank you! I wish I could say I’m confident that original fiction will pan out, but it sure won’t if I don’t write any of it, so I think it’s getting time for me to do just that (once I don’t have any other ongoing stories, of course).

And no worries, I certainly wouldn’t expect everyone who enjoys some of my stories would be interested in reading all of them. Here’s hoping I can get into the swing of writing Looking Glass soon; there’s plenty to look forward to in its climax :raritywink:

WEll herse ot hoping you do finish the series eventually :)

I'm sure I will. Just not so sure when :twilightsheepish:
