Mane 6 (minus Twilight) as Magic Cards · 12:24am Sep 15th, 2017
In the spirit of the My Little Planeswalker series, here are a set of magic cards for each of the Mane 6, as well as a few other characters. For all intents and purposes these cards and their color identities will be considered canon to the story of My Little Planeswalker, but they aren't particularly important to memorize, so consider this just an extra bit of information. Twilight also won't be listed here, since she already has a card within the main story. Enjoy!
———————
Fluttershy, Keeper of Fauna 3GW
Legendary Creature — Pegasus
If another creature you control would be destroyed, if its power is 2 or less, it gains indestructible until end of turn.
1W, T: Tap target creature.
2G, T: Populate.
1/5
"Don't worry little ones, I'll take care of you."
———————
Rainbow Dash, Wonderbolt 1RWB
Legendary Creature — Pegasus
Flying, Haste
When Rainbow Dash, Wonderbolt attacks, all combat damage that would be dealt to other creatures you control this turn is dealt to Rainbow Dash instead.
Whenever Rainbow Dash, Wonderbolt deals combat damage to a player, put a +1/+1 counter on Rainbow Dash.
"I'll always have your back. That's what makes me the awesomest!"
4/2
———————
Applejack, Orchard Tender 4GG
Legendary Creature — Horse
Protection from blue and from black
Applejack, Orchard Tender can't be countered.
Players can only cast spells during their own turns.
5/5
"Here on Sweet Apple Acres, we do things simple."
———————
Pinkie Pie, Joyful Hedonist 2BR
Legendary Creature — Horse
Each nonland card you own that isn't on the battlefield has madness. The madness cost is equal to the card's mana cost.
At the beginning of your upkeep, discard a card at random.
Whenever you cast a spell for its madness cost, each opponent discards a card at random.
4/1
"All right, partygoers! Are you ready to go KA-RAZY!?
———————
Rarity, Gem Weaver 1URB
Legendary Creature — Unicorn
1UR, T: Target opponent gains control of target permanent you control.
At the beginning of your upkeep, each opponent loses X life, where X is the number of permanents you own that your opponents control. You gain life equal to the life lost this way.
2/4
"Be careful with that jewelry, darling. It's quite sharp."
You realize I'm obligated to comment on these, right?
Fluttershy, Keeper of Fauna: Fun fact: That first ability literally does not work according to Magic rules. Ability-granting and -removing effects are applied before power- and toughness-modifying ones (see CR 613.1,) which means that that ability is trying to turn the rules structure inside out to ensure it still functions properly.
Also, I can't decide if Fluttershy not having flying is an oversight or entirely suitable.
Rainbow Dash, Rising Wonderbolt: First off, the name would never fit with that mana cost. Heck, it's almost too long for a land. A minor concern, but still.
The flavor's on point—Dash is fast enough to take the hit for your entire team—but it seems overly complicated. Why not just "Whenever Rainbow Dash attacks, all damage that would be dealt to other attacking creatures you control this turn is dealt to it instead"? Granted, this keeps deathtouchers from offing her, but at 2 base toughness, it's not going to come up much.
Also, I'm honestly not seeing the black here. It's not like it has sole rights to the Slith ability.
Applejack, Orchard Tender: Using Horse for earth ponies bothers me on a personal level. You might as well use Ape for humans. Still, as I said, it's a matter of taste.
Wrong order on the protection and the third ability should likely read "During each player's turn, other players can't cast spells." But what really surprises me is that you didn't include white in the color identity of such a pillar of the community. (Full disclosure: My version is also monogreen. In hindsight, I think that's a mistake.)
Pinkie Pie, Joyful Hedonist: Since madness cards go into exile before you get the chance to cast them, you'll need to work off of Falkenrath Gorger's ability to make Pinkie's work. Also, you probably didn't mean to include that "converted" in the mana cost.
Also, holy crap is Pinkie overpowered. She is a card advantage nightmare for your opponent. Every upkeep is a potential two card swing. Given her complete package build, adding at least one more mana would be advisable.
Oh, and again, surprised to see no white. After all, her chief impulse and ambition is to make others happy.
Rarity, Gemstone Weaver: I get that you're arranging the mana symbols by predominance in the characters' personalities, but URB still makes me twitch. Also, long name is long for a four mana symbol card.
In any case, Rarity is fascinating as a vampiric Zedruu, but the flavor doesn't seem to connect... unless there's something in those dresses she's keeping to herself. Also, you forgot her power and toughness.
My nitpicking aside, these were some very intriguing cards! I look forward to seeing what else you come up with.
A brief explanation of each character's colors:

I actually finished writing and posted a comment explaining the color choices just after you posted yours. Whoops!
But thanks for the feedback, this is more or less a dumping grounds for me to put these cards until/if I can find a place to fit them into the fic. I've already tweaked a few of them based on your feedback: Rainbow Dash has a shorter name (the same exact same number of characters as Zhou Yu, Chief Commander), Pinkie Pie's is a bit less broken, only targeting a single opponent (so only about as annoying as Nath, and a bit less consistent) and having 1 more generic mana in her cost, Applejack now has the correct order of protection abilities, and Fluttershy now protects creature tokens instead of creatures with a specific power/toughness.
To respond to a more specific criticisms, though:
Entirely intentional. This is a pegasus who is literally acrophobic, after all.
I'd originally written something like that, but since I wasn't sure how it would work with the difference between combat and noncombat damage, I'd avoided doing it. I realize now though that the original way actually did work, given abilities like Pariah's Shield. It's fixed now.
A large part of Rainbow Dash's character is that she can be tremendously egotistical, and even something as selfless as her desire to help people in need can be twisted into a self-serving desire to be celebrated as a hero if she's not careful. She's less bad about this than she used to be, but her head's still a bit too big to be pure red/white. The +1/+1 mechanic is, in in abstract way, meant to represent her ever-increasing sense of self-importance the more critical victories she scores against the enemy. Mechanically, it's an effect that's been seen on some vampires, so it's definitely black to some degree.
Oh, and the Slith aren't exactly a common basis for the color pie these days, anyway. Mirrodin was a weird block.
I'm mostly going off the fact that Dwarven Pony has the creature type horse, though I can see your point.
Nah, the exact wording of Applejack's ability is directly lifted from the Oracle text of Dosan the Falling Leaf. AJ's more or less the same card, but with more utility as a beatstick. She's intended to shut down any possibility of using deceptive or manipulative tricks, which is primarily the domain of blue and black.
I do see how you'd say that, but green is a color that also tends to value community, due to its central philosophy of accepting the world as it is, which includes the community you're a part of. A good example of this would be the mono-green human villages in Innistrad, which are very tight-knit communities out of necessity.
I'd disagree with making Applejack white, since white tends to be more... preachy than Applejack is. White very vocally tries to change the world to fit its own version of peace, but Applejack isn't usually that interested in changing that much. She's a simple pony who's perfectly content to live a simple life whenever possible, and maybe go to save the world when it's necessary. Even Fluttershy shows more initiative towards changing the world into what she wants it to be, she's the one who goes out of her way to care for monsters that nobody else would bother trying to understand.
This is probably the statement I disagree with the most strongly. White may be the color most heavily seen as altruistic, but what it ultimately desires isn't happiness. What it ultimately desires is peace. If there is one thing that Pinkie Pie's antics absolutely do not bring, it's peace. While she's not an immoral character in that she doesn't ever try to do anything to hurt anyone, she's ultimately a fairly amoral character because she really doesn't see the value in holding herself to codes of personal conduct, like politeness or social convention.
And like I explained earlier, while Pinkie's chief ambition is to make other's happy, it's strongly implied in "Party of One" that this is because Pinkie sees her own friendships as the foundation of her self-esteem. She wants to make others happy because it makes her happy. This doesn't mean she doesn't love her friends very deeply, it just means that love doesn't stem from a sense of collective obligation or morality: it's something much more visceral and personal than that.
The best comparison to Pinkie would probably be the Boggarts of Lorwyn. They're red/black, but not so much evil as much as they are tricksters that value experiencing the world in as many ways as possible in as personally fulfilling a manner as possible. They're the sort of creatures you could reasonably describe as being "high on life", much like Pinkie.
Fixed. Should be better now.
Admittedly this was the one card that I had trouble coming up with the flavor for, because I wanted to somehow combine Rarity's more obvious red/blue with her somewhat prominent vanity and greed, and the conflict that created with her element.
The best I could come up with the flavor text, which implied that the gemstones she's putting in her dresses are prone to cause injury due to being big, jagged rocks sewn onto fragile clothes. Unfortunately, having the effect only deal damage wasn't really powerful enough and just made her a worse Zedruu, so I had to tweak it to make it more like a Sanguine Bond effect.
Anyway, I'm glad you liked the cards. I hope you stick around, it's meant a lot to see you hear and you've done a great job motivating me to keep writing.
Y'know as I was reading these cards, I realized something... Fluttershy seems a little selfish with that indestructible... While it makes sense that she would want to protect her little token, I feel like Fluttershy has a goal to protect all little critters, not just her own as evidenced by "Fluttershy Leans In" where her goal is to help all of the animals not just her own. Or even "A Canterlot Wedding Pt. 2" Where she actually doesn't have any part of hurting the changelings. And on that note, Fluttershy is way too passive to have a power, I mean think of the times she actually has attacked something?
for some reason, I don't think even a 0/0 germ would feel that... And the times she's been intimidating? Like the stare and telling off a dragon? She never really attacked anything, she's just convinced creatures why she's right! Oh and we can all agree that "New Fluttershy" and Discord's "FlutterBitch", are just flukes... May as well give her Defender at this point... I think as a 0/6 she would make more sense. Cause right now she just seems like a less life-gainy version of Trostani. But with indestructible... and the ability to tap other stuff...
On a different note from Fluttershy, I'm also not so sure about that vampiric Zedruu ability... Maybe have the controller of her permanents discard X cards? Since inevitably Rarity needs some form of payment beyond feeling good for her Generosity.
Other than that, the cards seem to make sense to me! Now to await your inevitable shut downs of the reasons I gave to change the cards through carefully thought out logic that I have no response to other than... "Oh... Guess that makes sense..."
Question: are you using "B" to notate Blue, or Black?
Reason being that when skimming deck lists, it's really easy to get the 2 mixed up... also, I've found that including shorthand legends at the beginning of posts involving deck list-esque notations can help dispel the same confusion, especially when all 5 colors aren't actively being used (no joke, this is the exact reason why I use "K" to notate black whenever I'm dealing with MTG).
Overall, the only reason I ask is because you have abilities that could very well be attributed to either color...

Magic R&D uses "U" to denote blue and "B" to denote black when designing cards.
